The road is a critical military lifeline used to move troops, tanks, weapons equipment and essential food supplies towards sensitive areas such as Dras, Kargil and Leh. Before winter closes the route for months, the Army has to stock forward positions with essential food, fuel, medicines and other necessities for soldiers who will guard these borders for the next six winter months.

So no, you are not entitled to unrestricted passage simply because you spent a few hours travelling from Sonamarg towards Kargil and Leh, clicking pictures to later admire on your desktop while eating a freshly ordered burger in your cubby hole.
