Netherlands just euthanized a 2-year-old. First known case of a child that young under their expanded child euthanasia law
This is not some distant slippery slope. The Quebec College of Physicians has already proposed the same thing for Canada
In 2022, they told Parliament they wanted to explore MAiD for babies 0–1 born with severe malformations and “very grave and severe syndromes” where survival is “basically nil.”
They have since restated it: medical assistance in dying “may be an appropriate treatment for babies suffering from extreme pain that cannot be relieved” and parents “should have the opportunity to obtain this care for their infant”
It is not law. MAiD in Canada is still restricted to adults 18+. But a major provincial medical college keeps putting it on the table
The Netherlands started with adults. Then newborns. Then children 1–12. Now a 2-year-old
Canada should pay attention
"It's always this nice, passive way."
Cancer patients are fleeing Canada to seek treatment in the United States due to the promotion of assisted dying. A family speaks out on "Sunday Agenda." @LidiaNews
96,238 people waiting for surgery in a province of 5.5 million. BC was in crisis when I blew the whistle in 2023. I see it got so much better… 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
@AmandaAchtman What about patient suffering from the inundation of propaganda telling us we can always just opt out. What about our right to live with dignity?
He grabbed a little girl riding her bike, raped her, tortured her, killed her and dumped her body in a lake.
Now he’s granted permission to take cooking classes without a guard, outside of prison.
We have failed as a society if we can’t get the basics right. 🇨🇦🆘
@Dave_Eby has publicly promised to fix B.C. healthcare multiple times. Meanwhile money gets funneled into administrative red tape and cronyism, and we end up with this. ⬇️⬇️
@ddhitchens Seems more controversial to advocate against maid, talk against it, have a problem with it being pushed in your face while you’re sick/disabled. The attack dogs coming out at real people sharing what happened to them and their loved ones — tells us all.
Cathie is a normal Canadian. She probably recycles and loves animals.
Here, she mocks a cancer patient who has been inappropriately offered MAiD five times.
Cathie is not a bad person. But she is an example of what euthanasia does to societies' moral compass.
