NEW: Jaw dropping footage of the aftermath of flooding from Helene in the Chimney Rock, NC area.
Everything is gone.
“To give you an understanding of the devastation we’re dealing with: Chimney Rock is gone,” a local filmmaker said.
We deserve a new mayor. A mayor who cuts education, library budgets, and parks, who surrounds himself with criminals and alleged corruption up to the very top, does not deserve our trust. (1/2)
Michelle Ferreira of @housingworks recalled living in the shelter system with her kids 25 years ago.
Every morning she got up at six to take her kids to school from Queens all the way to the Bronx. It was hard work but she had to make it work because they were her kids.
Tell NYS legislators to reject the Governor's proposed change to the education funding formula and increase funding for our schools in the final budget! With federal Covid-19 relief $$ expiring, critical education programs will be cut as soon as July. https://t.co/AAqt8rEfSa
The CDC are adjusting COVID isolation guidance not because there's been a change in the science, but because of pressure from CEOs and politicians. This is malpractice and will only increase misinformation and mistrust.
There are many people who can't afford to take days off work even when they are ill. The CDC should be recommending that employers give workers paid sick leave, not making it easier for bosses to exploit workers by saying it's fine to work when you are sick.
The role of the CDC is to communicate accurate science that keeps people safe.
Not making sure corporations aren't held liable for forcing people to work when they are sick.
Hey just a question, if you can’t get the abortion on demand when can you get it? After a judge decides you deserve it? After a waiting period? After state-mandated counseling? After driving hours from home? After almost dying? Because these are all things that happened under Roe
The vast majority of rental housing in NYS is fully unregulated - tenants have no protections against evictions whatsoever. We can’t only build: we need statewide good cause to keep people in their homes.
Here are the specific NYS mask recommendations:
- applies to areas where patients/residents/clients may be present
- requirement includes employees, members of the medical and nursing staff, contract staff, students, and volunteers
- visitors should be encouraged to mask
The New York State Department of Health is recommending masking in healthcare and residential facilities.
This is an encouraging step! I wish this was stronger than a recommendation, but hopefully this prompts hospitals to bring back mask requirements.
Thank you advocates!

STATEMENT. Mayor Adams is proposing 5% across-the-board budget cuts, despite NYC holding $9B in reserves & skepticism about Mayor’s claims about fiscal impact of asylum seekers. NYers demand a halt to cuts amid mayoral scandals & corruption allegations.
