As a European Commissioner with the aim of contributing as much as possible to Europe’s economic development. The International Partnerships portfolio will allow me to focus on strengthening the EU's economic security, diversifying our suppliers of critical raw materials, and opening new markets for European companies.

My goal was to secure a strong economic portfolio for the Czech Republic, and given that International Partnerships holds a significant budget and one of the largest Directorates-General within the European Commission, I am confident that I will be able to ensure its substantial impact within the future EC.

My conversation yesterday with President @vonderleyen further reinforced this. She emphasized that the Global Gateway initiative is seen as one of the key tools for enhancing economic security and developing Europe’s economic relations with international partners.

🚨ICJ ruling today - for the UK @DavidLammy @Keir_Starmer

Israel's occupation is unlawful and States have been forbidden from supporting the occupation.

2 key matters for UK government policy decisions immediately:

1. The UK's position on the ICC and jurisdiction is over. The Court ruled that a treaty does not trump international law. That means the UK's position on the ICC not having jurisdiction over Israeli action in Gaza is the weakest it could possibly be. Time for the UK to withdraw its recent submission.

2. Self determination cannot be subject to conditions by the occupier. This means @Keir_Starmer and Labour's position of stalling in recognising Palestine is unlawful. The court ruled that Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem is a single sovereign unit. The UK government must recognise Palestine immediately.
