Market cap is just based on the last trade and it's not a promise of what you'll get when you sell. When you sell, you're pulling from the actual liquidity, and your own sell order pushes the price down as it fills, so the average price you receive ends up lower than the price shown right before you hit sell. The thinner the liquidity, the bigger that gap and thats normal slippage/price impact. from how automated market makers work, not a scam So TLDR, market cap reflects what the last guy paid, not what you are actually guaranteed to get.
