𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲. Last October, I was diagnosed with esophageal junction cancer. Thankfully, it was caught before it had spread.

Since then, I’ve been through two phases of intensive chemo (FLOT and FOLFOX) and six weeks of daily radiation. The tumor has shrunk significantly. Now we’re evaluating whether surgery is possible - it’s complicated because of its proximity to a major artery.

It’s been quite a year, to say the least.

Why share this now?
Because I believe in authenticity.
Because being on this side of the healthcare equation has given me perspective I can’t keep to myself.
And because if my story pushes even one person to get checked sooner, it’s worth it.

Please - nobody needs to worry about me or about emagine. We’re possibly on track for our strongest year ever, and I’ve been more effective in my role through treatment than I’ve been in years. This is hell, yes - but it fuels me. I’ve never worked as hard as I am now - but it’s all by choice.

I’m proud to say that we’ve built an agency and a team that doesn’t miss a beat when one of us has to deal with some things. In fact, everyone steps up even more. And that’s exactly what’s happened. We are stronger than we’ve ever been.

I owe everything to my cofounder Brett Cohen, our EVP of Operations Christian Nolen, my big sis and VP of Biz Dev Dawn Gadless, and most of all, my wife Krystal Galewski. I couldn’t do this without them.

My mom, my siblings, my extended family - plus every single member of the emagine team - words can’t even convey how much their strength and support has meant to me.

I will keep fighting every day. And if pieces of my journey find their way into future posts, I hope you’ll take them as they’re intended - to inform, to connect, to inspire.

Thank you for being here. Interacting with you all has been its own kind of immense therapy.
