Wish I got this concept as a player. Fortunately, I’ve had plenty of time to do it as a coach. A lot of great coaches and players have helped me see the game in different ways. What to look for is very important.
Peyton Manning on preparation…
“I could actually get lost in the intense focus of figuring things out that others may never even look at.”
Most players prepare just enough.
The great ones prepare until they start seeing things others miss.
Coach K once said, "During critical periods, a leader is not allowed to feel sorry for himself, to be down, to be angry, or to be weak."
Great leaders don't just endure - they rise to the occasion.
They respond with grit.

Jay Wright on focusing on what you can control
"Your attitude is your greatest characteristic. You don't control your intelligence, your size, or your God-given talents. What you do control, though, is your attitude.”

Pep Guardiola: “Nothing is eternal. The most important thing to realise is that when you are winning, winning - it is exceptional. That it’s not the normality. That’s why being stable in the good and bad moments, not just as a manager, but as a club [is important].
[When it’s good] don’t pretend ‘ah, how good we are’ and when it’s bad ‘everything is a disaster’. I think that defines this club. In the good moments and bad moments we were stable. We didn’t celebrate too much, we were not depressed in the bad moments. Always we were in that margin.
That’s defined from the people above. Khaldoon Al Mubarak, our chairman, guides us, the way we have to behave. He behaved extraordinary in the bad moments. That stability helps everyone do what we have to do.”
