Carving swastikas into your gun before you hunt Black people isn’t mental illness. It’s white supremacy.
We need to be damn clear about that, because the solutions to those two problems are very different. It’s not brain chemistry, it’s a worldview that doesn’t see us as human.
If you understand the history of Montgomery -- one of the most prolific slave-trading cities in the US turned brutally repressive apartheid regime after, and majority Black but JUST got its first Black mayor -- it gives so much more perspective to this video. Trust.
On our final day as Richmond Greyhounds….there’s nowhere else we could be. Thank you so much to our magnificent writers’ room. We’d be NOTHING without you. #WritersStrike#tedlasso#believe 💙❤️
It's astonishing sometimes how many people have no idea how many Black men fought in the Civil War -- close to 200k -- and the 200-300k more Black men and women who ran away from slavery & served as cooks, scouts, laborers & spies for the Union, helping secure the Union victory.
Hey this is cool but you should have your physical drivers license on you whenever you’re driving because handing a cop your phone with your ID on is counts as consent for them to go through your phone 🫶
Thinking a lot today about Kitty Genovese, a lesbian from Brooklyn, whose brutal and senseless murder by a stranger was twisted and exploited to push a racist, anti-urbanist, and factually-incorrect narrative that has shaped the last 50+ years of American history. ❤️🧡🤍💜

People w/ mental health conditions make up 53% of the population at Rikers.
On average, they are held 61% longer.
We pay $556,000 per person annually to keep them in jail. 90% on Rikers are held without conviction.
By contrast, it costs ~$42k to put them in supportive housing.
Fun Fact: Every single state that voted for Donald Trump in 2020 receives more money from the federal government than they contribute to the federal government. Happy Red Welfare States Day to all those who take and celebrate.
THIS is last year's Christmas card from Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles, a Republican who represents the district that Covenant School is in in Nashville. #tnleg
I’ve seen these in a few books (mostly Feiwel & Friends, if memory serves) and have always wished it was standard across all of publishing. Film & TV have them - why shouldn’t we?
Dickens struggled with an opium addiction, had 12 children that we know of, several great loves outside of his marriage, was *passionate* throughout his life about reforming the conditions that the working class and the very poorest of society lived and died in, 1/2
Does Bella Ramsey have a “baby face” or has media warped our perception of what 19 year olds actually look like by always casting people in their mid-20s to play teenagers, thus especially reinforcing the idea that young women should somehow always look older?
