Leaders in Texas @PTAofficialpk were at the Capitol today asking good questions about why @GovAbbott would continue to push his unpopular voucher scam when it would result in the closure of so many neighborhood schools.
Answer: Follow the money.

🚨VOTE🚨
If you are a public school educator, you cannot sit this one out. Far too many educators choose not to vote, so candidates supported by mega-donors looking to profit off our kids, win due to low voter turnout. I support public education and I vote!

If public school funding had been adjusted for inflation since 2019, FISD could have provided a 3-4% raise for all employees each year since. Instead, funding is being used as a carrot to pass controversial voucher legislation. Tell lawmakers to stop: https://t.co/vmeOOt9fDo

According to the Brookings Institution, a decade of studies on private school subsidies shows they actually hurt student achievement. Public tax dollars should be used to advance a public good, like improving student achievement.
The Governor has called for vouchers for all. With over 1 million students already in homeschool & private schools, it could cost up to $8 billion yearly. 90% of students are in public school, & they deserve full funding before diverting taxpayer $$$ for private school subsidies.
