It’s here!! If you have students who struggle with math problem solving, this book can bring clarity to what students need. It has more than 30 lessons along with the research behind intentional moves to accelerate learning. #danijacksonmath
It was the best day of learning about small group instruction with first year teachers. I love my job and doing it with @IC_K8Stafford. #FISDmathworkshop
Here is my latest article on setting up math stations for success. This is a vital piece of small group instruction so that the other students are doing productive learning while they are independently working or working with others. https://t.co/cqTFXCTJlj
One more month! My book also has a chapter about productive struggle and lessons to support students in growing grit and perseverance through learning how their brain works. When we put the knowledge in the hands of students they have more ownership and understand the why.
School leaders...
Teachers...
Learners...
Improvement will ALWAYS feel uncomfortable.
Don't fear the discomfort. Embrace it.
The success you've been after will eventually follow the uncomfortable improvement.
That's how this "getting better" thing works.
We partnered up for this this campus’ goal around math learning stations. So much behavior preparation is a part of making stations successful. Thanks Kirsten for the collaboration!! @VaughnElemFISD
Our Rogers teachers are creating manipulative bags for every student that will be streamlined K-5 so they won’t have to prep them for lessons throughout the year. Easy access will make them accessed more often. I love this use of time during August PD!
Something to remember before the kids get here.
They are NOT:
SPED kids
EIP kids
RTI kids
504 kids
"Those" kids
Low kids
"That side of town" kids
_____ kids
Kids are kids.
Kids are learners, not labels.
Believe in & challenge ALL kids.
No excuses.
Otherwise, shame on us.
I found myself saying, “Yes!” Out loud many times throughout this article. It is a mirror of the research in my book and speaks about the complexity of solving word problems for students. @sarahpowellphd
