What an inspiring day of learning and collaboration we had in Dallas, Texas last week!
Our Enjoy Thinking event brought together passionate educators and thought leaders to explore how we can create more meaningful math experiences for students. From rethinking intervention practices to diving deeper into mathematical reasoning, every session focused on empowering teachers to move beyond memorization and foster true student thinking.
A huge thank you to Pam Harris, Jackie Murawska, EdD, Dani Fry Jackson, Ed.D., and Katey Arrington, Ph.D. for sharing their expertise, insights, and practical strategies.
Some key takeaways from the day:
• Small instructional shifts can create big impact
• Reasoning and sense-making should drive mathematics learning
• Student-centered intervention leads to stronger outcomes
• Playful, engaging tasks help uncover authentic understanding
Thank you to all of our attendees who contributed their meaningful insights and helped make our first Enjoy Thinking in Texas such a special experience.

RISD Assistant Principals were all in today! There’s nothing more rewarding than collaborating with a group of instructional leaders that are focused on making Tier 1 right for EVERY student. So proud of the learning today! @IamBranum@kristinleeper9@mathymichal@MathWithAudrey
Our first Friday Night Live at Liberty JH was a success! Students enjoyed an evening of academic intervention, pizza, and games. Round two will be next Friday, November 14th. @RichardsonISD@AmieeHimler@Michaeldmc1911
Our HS math leaders took the ACT this am and digging into their own internalization on how they can better prepare students for success on the TSi/ACT! Way to go math! We are on step closer to our @RichardsonISD North Star Goal! ❤️💙💚💜 #risddreambig
This RLA teacher is experiencing productive struggle at Math DWD! My excitement when I finally “got it” was surreal💡🤯 (don’t judge my thinking sheet)😂 Dreams do come true! I can do math!😉
Love getting to present with one of my favorite people @mathymichal on cultivating a positive math identity in a K-12 math classroom! @RISDmath#RISDgrow
When leaders understand the why & how of literacy instruction, schools transform. Yesterday our ILTs explored the Science of Reading & saw a 3rd grade phonics lesson in action. Growing knowledge, strengthening practice & Dreaming Big for every student. #SoR#RISDDreamBig ❤️💙
