🔥 Jogulamba — The Mother Who Waited 600 Years
700 years ago, Alampur was not a quiet temple town.
It was a learning center - Vedic chanting, agamic rituals, yogis doing sadhana near Tungabhadra river.
Jogulamba Devi sat there in her fierce form:
Hair unbound
Scorpions and snakes surrounding her
Seated on a cremation ground
Priests say her presence was so intense that even people with disturbed energies would tremble stepping in.
---
The Attack (1390 AD)
One night, there were distant sounds - horses, shouting, metal clashing.
Invaders from the Bahmani Sultanate entered Alampur.
They started breaking temples - one by one - destroying murtis, burning temple records, smashing pillars.
When they reached Jogulamba temple, the priests were praying.
They could hear the idols of nearby temples falling and people running for their lives.
Jogulamba temple was next.
The chief priest looked at Devi, eyes full of tears.
He whispered:
“Amma… I cannot protect the temple.
But I will protect You.”
The priests quickly wrapped the original murti in cloth, chanting Devi’s names, and carried her from the back entrance.
They went into the Bala Brahmeswara Temple, a Shiva temple within the same complex, and hid her inside one of the inner chambers.
They placed the murti facing Shiva and whispered:
“Lord, keep Mother safe until the world deserves Her again.”
The temple of Jogulamba was destroyed that night.
But the Devi remained untouched.

600 Years - Silent Worship
Years turned into decades.
Decades into centuries.
Empires rose and fell.
Bahmani → Qutub Shahis → Mughals → Nizams → British rule → Independent India
But Jogulamba never came back to her original temple.
Every morning, quietly, without announcements, without crowds - a priest would enter the Bala Brahmeswara temple
and worship her there.
People moved on.
Generations passed.
For outsiders, Jogulamba temple was "ruins."
For insiders,
She was alive, hidden, and worshipped.
That’s why locals say:
“Mother was in tapas.”

Return of the Mother (2005) ✨️
In the early 2000s, something changed.
More people started coming to Alampur.
Archaeology teams began restoring temple surroundings.
Devotees requested:
“Amma should return to her place.”
The priests and the government agreed.
The temple was rebuilt - stone by stone - matching old architecture.
On May 13, 2005, in the presence of Vedic scholars and thousands of devotees, the original idol that was protected for 600 years…
was brought back to her rightful temple.
As the murti was taken out, old priests cried, saying:
“For centuries, we waited to see this day.”
When the idol was installed back, people heard conch sounds from different parts of the temple complex…
like the entire land rejoiced.

Why Jogulamba is special 🔥
She is one of the 18 Shakti Peethas of the Indian subcontinent.
This place is where Sati Devi’s upper teeth fell.
And she is called Jogul-Amma -
Mother of Yogis.
Not a Devi of ornaments.
Not a Devi of palaces.
A Devi of Tapas, Fire, and Truth.
Glad to see Telugu influencers taking inspiration from other influencers and cleaning and restoring our ancient temple (pond) ‘Koneru’ 😍
Let’s share to spread this inspiration

IBM ad in 1973. When the whole world was misled into believing that Algebra came from the Arab civilization (Al-Jabr), this was how IBM came up with such fantastic print ads in international newspapers, acknowledging that Algebra had actually originated in India thousands of years ago. What a proud moment it must have been for young Indian engineers across the globe when the world's largest technology company openly refuted false propaganda, and rightfully gave the entire deserving credit to Indians. - via SM
