@bryan_caplan The increase in efficiency that late merging offers intrigues me a bit as I would think traffic is determined by the flow rate which is determined by the number of lanes. Late merging thus wouldn’t improve flow rate. Maybe it’s the result of less friction?

@paulg @BrendanEich Thousand ways to fail, limited ways to succeed. Naysayers by definition will be correct more often than not. Viewing them as smart is a heuristic we should try to avoid yet very strong imo. Luckily people continue to working on moonshots.
