S10 of Archer was easily one of the most fun projects I've been a part of-
The entire season is a sci-fi universe taking place inside Archer's head, so we got really creative with designs and references.
Even simple props like a lantern or flashlights were a pleasure to design
@AmandaToddArt All that is to say, you're not alone! Afaik everyone is struggling these days.
I've pivoted to subsiding entirely on freelance one-offs, and while I'm surviving it isn't sustainable long-term. Here's hoping things turn around soon!
@AmandaToddArt I'm nearing 10 months with no luck- things are crazy in every creative production industry too, not just animation.
Video games, television, etc... the Art Director's Guild on the west coast was at 75% unemployment a couple months ago!
Bladesmithing project I finished a bit ago: A Type XIIa bastard sword with bronzed hilt furniture.
Took about a year of work to get it all shaped, polished, and finished. Very happy with how it turned out, this is the first full-size sword I've built every piece of from scratch!
Character Designs for a pitch I put together called Super Cyborg Action Lizards.
The idea was an animated adult comedy satirizing the Ninja Turtles and other saturday-morning-animal-based-crime-fighting-teams (there are weirdly a LOT of them).
Some iterative character designs I did for Ibadan Peters from the last season of Archer, voiced be Lennie James.
It was super fun to be Design Director on our final season!
I created this one today as a warmup painting before jumping into client work. So much fun with the colors!
Probably hard to focus between all those trippy trees :)
