India being the biggest borrower of World Bank is NOT a matter of threat because India is the largest borrower of World Bank for so many years

See it like this

- We have been borrowing from World Bank for so many years
- World Bank gives cheap loans and return period is often very very long making it easier to pay back
- For the last 25 or so years our loan has been in this range of 30-40 billion dollars
- Meanwhile, India’s GDP has grown to 4 Trillion Dollars +

And now look at this:

- India’s total external debt today is around 750-800 billion dollars
- In all this external debt, Government’s external debt is not more than 170 billion dollars
- In which we have borrowed only 35-40 billion dollars from World Bank
- That too at concessional rates
- And precisely for developmental purposes

So, not a bad thing to be alarmed about

Also:
- We do have a good forex reserve position to service it for a considerably long period even in case our country totally stops

So, while the post is correct, it should not be a matter of unnecessary anxiety 😊
