On the occasion of Independence Day 2026, the Creche & day care center named "आरोही " and newly installed Lift at Aaykar Bhawan, Kanpur were inaugurated by Hon’ble Pr. CCIT Smt. Aparna Karan Ma’am. These new facilities are a step towards providing better and more convenient workplace for officers and employees. The Creche will support Officers and employees with young children, providing them with a safe and comfortable environment at workplace. It will help officers and employees to manage their professional responsibilities as well as parental care while the new Lift will make movement within the building easier and more accessible. These initiatives reflect the Department’s commitment to employee welfare, convenience and a better working environment.

As part of the 167th IncomeTaxDay celebrations, the Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, organised "Virasat": a special interaction between retired IRS officers and serving officers of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana at Mehdi Manzil Lawns, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, on 25.07.2026, under the guidance of Shri Suresh Battini, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, AP & TG.
A first-of-its-kind initiative, Virasat provided a platform for retired senior IRS officers to share their experiences, institutional knowledge, and best practices with serving officers. The programme honoured the invaluable contributions of retired officers whose dedication and leadership have significantly shaped the Income Tax Department over the years.
The event witnessed the participation of around 65 retired officers, including Shri P. R. Rao, IRS (Retd.), a 1955 batch officer aged 97 years, along with officers who had recently retired from service, representing the rich legacy and continuity of the Department.

Virasat reflects the Department’s commitment to preserving its institutional heritage, fostering inter-generational learning, and inspiring future generations of officers through the enduring values of service, integrity, and excellence.

The 167th Income Tax Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Kanpur Station on 24th July 2026. As part of the celebrations, Aaykar Bhawan, Kanpur was illuminated vibrantly. Banners & standees highlighting the significance of Income tax were displayed at the Venue. In the evening Hon'ble Chairman's Message and a short movie showcasing the achievements of the Income Tax Department were also screened. Hon'ble Chairman's message reaffirmed the Department's commitment to transparency, dedication to excellence, integrity, taxpayer services and widening & deepening of tax base with ultimate aim of nation-building.

The 167th Income Tax Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and pride at Dehradun Station on 24th July, 2026 under the able guidance of Chief Guest Hon'ble Pr. Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, UP (West) & Uttarakhand, Smt. Aparna Karan, Ma'am. The programme witnessed graceful presence of Dr. Renuka Jain Gupta Ma’m, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Dehradun and Smt. Shefali Swaroop Ma’m, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ghaziabad who shared their valuable thoughts through their speech. This grand programme was organised by Smt. Sunita Singh Ma’m, Pr. Commissioner of Income Tax, Dehradun and her team. The celebration commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana, followed by a welcome address by Smt. Sunita Singh, Pr. Commissioner of Income Tax, Dehradun. The celebration was graced by address of Shri Yogesh Nayak, Executive Director , Chief Corporate Finance, ONGC, who shared their valuable insights . In the celebration Top 5 Corporate and Top 5 Non-Corporate taxpayers were also felicitated for their contribution towards nation-building through voluntary tax compliance. The prizes were distributed to the winners of the poster painting and other competitions which were organised as a part of celebrations. The major highlight of the celebration was the Keynote Address of Hon'ble Pr. CCIT Smt. Aparna Karan, Ma'am, who emphasized the Department's commitment to taxpayer service, transparency, technological advancement, and the effective implementation of the Income Tax Act, 2025. Her address motivated all officers and officials to uphold the highest standards of integrity and excellence in public service. The programme was further adorned by staging of skits. The celebration concluded with the closing address ,singing of Vande Matram and National Anthem followed by High Tea, providing an opportunity for officers, officials, taxpayers, and guests to interact and strengthen mutual cooperation. The celebration reaffirmed the Department's commitment to building trust with taxpayers and promoting a culture of voluntary tax compliance for the progress of the nation.

As part of the 167th Income Tax Day Celebrations, the Income Tax Department, West Bengal & Sikkim organized “TAX TRIVIA” – a Quiz Competition on 20th July 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, Aayakar Bhawan, Kolkata.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Officers and Officials of the Department, who came together in a spirit of learning, teamwork and healthy competition. The quiz was designed to provide an engaging and interactive platform for participants to test their knowledge, sharpen their awareness and learn new facts in an enjoyable and stimulating environment.

The competition not only encouraged participants to broaden their knowledge but also fostered team spirit, camaraderie, collaboration and a sense of fellowship among colleagues. The lively participation, spirited competition and vibrant atmosphere added to the celebratory fervour of the occasion.

“TAX TRIVIA” thus emerged as an enriching and memorable initiative, celebrating the 167th Income Tax Day in a unique and engaging manner while highlighting the importance of continuous learning, knowledge-sharing and collective participation within the Department.
