➥ By displaying the image of Periyar in the Dasara tableau exhibition, the state government has hurt the sentiments of believers.
➥ The tableau exhibition should reflect the state's culture and not promote the ideologies of any political party or individual. In 1971, during the Salem protest (a protest against superstitions), Periyar and his followers vandalized Hindu deities' idols.
➥ This act was strongly condemned in the Tughlaq magazine with illustrations. Even the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party's newspaper 'The Rising Sun', which opposes Hindu customs, traditions, and culture, had reported on Periyar and his followers vandalizing the Hindu deities.
➥ The state government, which is portraying this person as a cultural/social ambassador, should have at least conducted some research on him.
➥ It is condemnable that the government is glorifying those who are against Hindus. In a land where saints like Basavanna, Purandara Dasa, Kanaka Dasa, Akka Mahadevi, freedom fighters like Rani Chennamma, Rayanna who stood against the British, Onake Obavva who sacrificed her life to protect the fort, the Yadu dynasty kings who illuminated the state, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, and revered spiritual leaders like Pujya Siddheshwara Swamiji and the walking god, Trividha Dasohi Shri Shri Shivakumara Swamiji were born, showcasing someone like Ramasamy in the tableaux reveals the moral bankruptcy of this government.
➥ Displaying the image of Periyar is not just an insult to Hindus but also an insult to the goddess of the land, Chamundeshwari.
➥ Karnataka is the land of saints and seers, not idol-breakers. In the rush to please certain individuals, the government has tarnished the sanctity and culture of Dasara, and this act deserves condemnation.
➥ The Minister of Kannada and Culture and the Honorable Chief Minister must provide a clear explanation to the people of the state regarding this issue.

In the IT Corridor of Bellandur, nearly every road is plagued by building violations. Small plots are being overbuilt, with 15 to 20 units crammed into spaces that are not designed for such density, each being rented out for around ₹20,000 per month. These buildings often lack basic infrastructure like proper sewage and water connections, creating hazardous living conditions. It’s alarming that such developments are becoming hotspots for paying guest (PG) businesses, where the focus is purely on profit rather than safety and hygiene.
BBMP needs to intervene urgently and halt all construction that violates building regulations, especially during the construction phase. These unchecked violations are not just a matter of non-compliance; they are putting lives at risk. The absence of essential services like sewage and water systems not only compromises the health of residents but also degrades the surrounding environment. Immediate action is required to ensure that future constructions adhere to safety standards and that existing illegal developments are brought under scrutiny. Public safety must be prioritized over unchecked urbanization.

A KSRTC bus driver was recently caught smoking while driving, raising serious concerns about passenger safety. When people board a public bus, they place their trust in the driver to ensure a safe and responsible journey. However, incidents like this not only break that trust but also put countless lives at risk. Smoking while driving is not only illegal but highly irresponsible, as it distracts the driver and compromises their ability to focus on the road. Passengers have every right to expect that the person behind the wheel is fully alert and committed to their safety. This kind of behavior calls into question the effectiveness of safety regulations and the commitment of transport authorities to enforce them. If drivers engage in such reckless actions, how can the public feel secure in using public transportation? It is essential that strict measures be taken to prevent such incidents in the future and to restore public confidence in the safety of public transport systems.

Another Fear Unlocked in Bengaluru
