The proposed Purandar airport is much farther. My Chakan-Navi Mumbai drive already takes only 2 hours, and reaching the existing Pune airport takes longer due to roads & traffic.

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will host its first commercial landing with an Indigo A320 on December 29, 2024, milestone follows successful validation of the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) system by the AAI.
