Reading some of the comments is genuinely disappointing.

A 94-year-old widow went to live with her son after her husband's death. Is that a crime? Millions of parents around the world do the same for love, care, and support.

Now her final wish is to die as an Indian and have her last rites performed in her native village. You may disagree with her past decision to take another citizenship, but mocking a 94-year-old woman for this says far more about the commenters than it does about her.

Considering her age, I only wish the administration could make the process as comfortable as possible. If feasible, officials could even visit her to complete the formalities. And whenever senior citizens visit a Collector's office or any government office, they should be treated with empathy offered a chair, assisted through the process, and not left standing while waiting.

Compassion costs nothing. Humanity should never become optional.
