Kurt Amacker is a comic book writer from New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Loyola University in 2002 and received his Master's degrees from Tulane University in 2017 and 2019. He began writing his first miniseries, Dead Souls, while recovering from an injury in the United States Marine Corps. After the first issue was published in 2008, he continued writing comics while DJing and producing events in the raucous French Quarter goth scene.
Kurt has written multiple independent comics, one vampire novel, and even officially-licensed comics for hard rock bands such as Cradle of Filth and the 69 Eyes. His work has been publicly praised by Alan Moore, Hart Fisher, Jyrki 69, Victor Gischler, and Dani Filth. A film based on his graphic novel Tad Caldwell and the Monster Kid is currently in post-production. The sequel to the original graphic novel, entitled Tad Caldwell 2: Cult, was released for website and convention sales, with a mass market version currently in production.
Amacker is also working on a chapbook of poetry. He continues to live in New Orleans with his wife, the Bride, and their three cats.
Come meet and greet with Kurt Amacker at MORGAN CITY RETRO CON 2026, happening at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium February 28th - March 1st! Tickets are available for preorder NOW on our website!

Dear old people, waking up at 6am, tending to a garden, eating dinner at 5pm, reading books, and going to bed at 9:30pm feels amazing.
I was wrong. You were right.
I'm waiting on more comic mailers to send out comp copies of Tad Caldwell 2: Cult. Those of you who want to pay for the book can see the first four pages here. Tad Caldwell 2: Cult. Words by me. Art by @VernonDraws. Cover by @teamlattie. It's finally here. https://t.co/3WEQPpY3Hv
Tad Caldwell 2: Cult is now available in my Shop. This premium edition was printed on gloss paper in New Orleans. There will be a mass market edition on matte paper. For now, this variant is only available here and at con appearances. https://t.co/8SSlRStz42
This is my panel schedule for CONtraflow SciFi/DeepSouthCon 63 this weekend. Come out and grab the premium edition of Tad Caldwell 2: Cult. I'll see y'all there.
Nathan knows that saving his father’s life in 1985 may be just a memory away. He begs Tad Caldwell for insight, but the wily old writer is serving a life sentence in a Mississippi prison. Nathan will learn so much more than he’s bargained for when Caldwell’s master plan unfolds.
I will be signing books and participating at panels at CONtraflow SciFi XI on Friday, October 10, to Sunday, October 11, at the New Orleans Airport Hilton in Kenner, LA. I will have advance copies of my newest book, Tad Caldwell 2: Cult. Tickets are at https://t.co/ZZlEDPWlUM
Two years ago, Nathan was almost murdered by disgraced science-fiction writer Tad Caldwell and his half-alien son, Roger. Now, he lives alone in a trailer, where he broadcasts his pirate radio show about UFOs and the psychic secrets within Caldwell’s book, The First Revelation.
Be thou reminded. I will be at @MightyConComics NOLA Comic Con on August 9-10 at the Ponchartrain Convention Center in Kenner, LA. I will be signing and selling my back catalog and giving out the usual promotional stickers, buttons, cards, etc. I hope to see y'all there.
I’m aggrieved to learn about the death of Jim Shooter. My earliest experiences with comics were with Bronze Age @Marvel that were largely produced under his editorial oversight, along with those of Roy Thomas. I would be a different person without him. Rest in peace.
I was a commentator on last night's episode of "Fatal Destination" on @DiscoveryID, which recounted the murder of Shawn Johnson in New Orleans in July 2003. The episode is still streaming on @StreamOnMax.
A group of strangers, a mysterious bar, and a celebration that spiraled into something sinister. One woman walked away—but Sean never got the chance.
Watch #FatalDestination Tuesday on ID.
along with a restock of the recent issues of Maledictus Athenaeum that I worked on. I'll also have many of my original works, including Tad Caldwell and the Monster Kid, Dead Souls, and more. 3030 Severn Ave., Metairie, LA 70002. 10-6.
Reminder for those in NOLA: I will be signing comic books for @Freecomicbook at @bsicomics alongside a murders' row of local talent. I'll have copies of the first @CradleofFilth graphic novel (co-written with Dani Filth)...
I saw "A Streetcar Named Desire" from the @twtheatrenola last night with the Bride. #Southerngothic drama at is finest. Just a reminder that I will be at the New Orleans Comic Con next weekend, Aug. 10-11. Tix: https://t.co/KM5UfAHZu2. #southerngothicscene#subcultureofone
