@steveinman Just so everyone knows, this is still murder. Unless the thief/robber had a gun and threatened to use it, defense of property does not equate to permission to kill. “Self-defense” is when life is at stake.

@dom_lucre Where “self-defense” is concerned, this isn’t it. There’s no way this man’s life was in danger. It appears obvious conflict was anticipated, hence hiding the gun. He also appears to escalate the conflict with the intent to shoot him, not to mention empty the clip (almost). Dumb.

They were pulling him, which means he was being pulled against the seat belt. That can actually really hurt so maybe freeing his hand and hitting the release was reasonable.

He clearly did not understand his rights and the law, but it was “panic” that escalated this to the point he was shot in the back multiple times by all 5 officers.

There’s several things this kid should have and should not have done, but in what world is it reasonable force for 5 officers to all fire multiple shots at a person in a car? @NFL_DovKleiman This is totally ridiculous. The blunt force necessary may not have been been the shoulder but Hamlin wrapping Higgins up and then falling over backwards. The fall and Higgins weight was most likely the force anyway.

@DrGJackBrown Another example: Consider that the cup was a Starbucks cup (are Trumps too good for @Starbucks?) and the cup was sealed. Even had she been holding on to it very strongly when she fell, the lid likely holds the contents of the cup until it hits the ground and keeps it warm too!!

@DrGJackBrown The reference to a “spilled cup of coffee” doesn’t necessarily mean that the coffee wasn’t discovered all up and down the stairs; it just communicates that the cup - which was spilled - was found at the bottom of the stairs.

@DrGJackBrown Without all of the facts it’s difficult to say whether a story adds up or not. Consider the coffee was previously set near the bottom of the staircase. Even if it were sitting firmly on an end table, the fall could have easily caused it to spill and story “adds up.”

@tksportstweets If you watch the hit, it does seem like he got more “choked out” than knocked out. There wasn’t really a hit to the head. On that basis, I find it believable.
