This truck was stolen from our yard last night (just north of Lethbridge). It's a 1990 red GMC pickup. Running boards were removed and has a white toolbox on the back. Please message me if you spot it. Retweets are appreciated.
@JDKid123 @RebeccaTokariuk These Sugar Beet Root maggots overwinter as larvae, pupate at the surface in the spring. Then In a couple weeks adult flies will emerge & lay eggs at the base of neighboring beet fields. The maggots will then feed on roots of this years crop. No threat to cereals that in aware.
Sugar beet root maggot pupae found a couple inches from the soil surface of 2019 beets. Found 3 weeks earlier than last spring. Good thing all surrounding fields are treated with cruiser max.
One more day until July 1. I would call this pretty close to row closure. This field is the Hilleshog 9328RR, nice large leafsurface for the longest days of the year.
Did you know that much of the sugar you buy is locally grown and processed right here in Alberta? It all starts with the sugar beet. https://t.co/4H1mt7oR60
At the end of the presentation I asked the kids what they think of when they hear the word agriculture & one answer was “It’s awesome!”
That’s what I love to hear!
Beets are enjoying the sunshine. The cool wet weather lately made for good plant stands. But from now til fall these beets want the heat! #absugar#onlyseededthisfieldonce
