This morning, Minister of Education @JoNsengimana officiated the National Conference on Reimagining the Graduate, Research and Innovation Ecosystem: Shaping Doctoral Education, Research and Innovation in Higher Education in Rwanda.
The conference brings together leaders from higher education, research, and innovation to chart a bold vision for strengthening doctoral education, advancing impactful research, and transforming ideas into solutions that drive Rwanda's socio-economic transformation.

The University of Rwanda has been named among just five African institutions honoured by the Mastercard Foundation, @MastercardFdn for advancing higher education transformation across the continent.

As an inaugural laureate of the Africa Higher Education for Transformation (AHEFT) Prize, the @Uni_Rwanda will receive USD 3 million to scale transformative initiatives that expand opportunities for young people across Africa.

This recognition celebrates universities that are driving innovation, strengthening pathways from education to meaningful work, and reimagining what higher education can deliver for Africa's future.

Minister of Education @JoNsengimana emphasized that mastering English goes far beyond speaking the language itself.

He noted that English proficiency strengthens learners' understanding across subjects and opens doors to opportunities both in Rwanda and around the world, saying,

"As we master the language, we are able to understand the courses that we are learning in the classroom, and we are able to do better in all the courses, not just English itself."

Today, Rwanda's brightest young speakers take the stage to compete for the title of The ORATOR 2026, demonstrating the confidence, eloquence, and critical thinking they have developed throughout this journey.

Today, Minister @JoNsengimana participated in the Ministerial Panel at the opening of FLEX2026 in Lilongwe, Malawi, where he reaffirmed Rwanda's commitment to delivering quality foundational learning for every child.
Speaking alongside fellow African education leaders, the Minister emphasized that education remains a national priority for Rwanda. He noted that Rwanda will continue to invest in education and advance sector reforms because every child deserves the opportunity to learn and thrive.
