After the President’s threats, what we saw from Jeanine Pirro and the Department of Justice was a blatant, dangerous abuse of power. They tried to bring bogus criminal charges against me, Senator Mark Kelly, and others simply for restating the law. Pirro has been one of the President’s political stooges who has shamelessly tried to weaponize the justice system to intimidate perceived political enemies and silence free speech.

When a U.S. Attorney discards prosecutorial ethics and the law to carry out political hit jobs, there must be accountability. Prosecutors who violate their ethical duties, abuse their authority, and subvert the justice system should face consequences. No one is above the law.

The Rot at the Heart of Trump's Treasury: A Regime So Corrupt Even Its Own Loyalists Are Fleeing Before the Handcuffs Arrive

In Trump's second term, senior Treasury officials are quitting in droves rather than risk prison. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has already suffered a "dramatic exodus." At least four of the seven top officials left after clashing with the White House over demands to stretch — or violate — tax law. Seven of 16 Senate-confirmed appointees (44 percent) have quit or been pushed out. Bessent has burned through at least three chiefs of staff.

The flashpoints were explicit. Officials resisted pressure to hand over taxpayer data for the administration's immigration crackdown. They also rejected a $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization" fund designed to compensate Trump allies and kill any past or future IRS audits of the president and his family. Senate Republicans forced the fund's abandonment, but the demand itself exposed the agenda.

These career professionals are not fleeing out of sudden conscience alone. They fully intend to work again once this criminal regime's reign of terror and corruption ends. They know that complying with illegal orders now could mean disbarment, indictment, or permanent exile from government and private-sector work later. Mark Mazur, a veteran tax official who served both parties, stated the obvious: "They're asking them to do stuff that is well beyond the norm, and for some things that may or may not be legal. A lot of these people expect to have a career after this administration, and being disbarred would be a bad thing for them."

This turnover exceeds that under any other treasury secretary this century. Even Republican tax professionals are refusing to comply. The pattern is clear: the White House is treating tax law as optional when it protects one man. Officials who still value their freedom, licenses, and future livelihoods are walking away while they still can.

He has demanded a personal apology from Jon Ossoff, accusing the Georgia senator of using “misogynistic language” after he mentioned Trump aide Natalie Harp during a speech about a president more interested in personal comforts than public service.

Gingrich even invited everyone to imagine the uproar if a Republican spoke this way about a Democratic professional woman.

Luckily, imagination is unnecessary. Donald Trump has supplied years of examples.

He called Hillary Clinton a “nasty woman.” He branded Nancy Pelosi “crazy.” He repeatedly described Kamala Harris as dumb, stupid and “low IQ.”

He hurled a racist nickname at Elizabeth Warren, made a suggestive crack about what Kirsten Gillibrand would do for campaign donations and told four Democratic congresswomen of color to “go back” to other countries.

Through all of that, Gingrich remained firmly aboard the Trump train. Cat got your tongue, Mr. Speaker?

Now one reference to a powerful White House aide has transformed him into the Emily Post of political discourse.

Suddenly, language matters.
Professional women deserve protection.
Public figures merit dignity.

Selective outrage this shameless deserves appreciation as a craft. It takes years of disciplined practice to overlook every insult from your own side, then locate your moral compass the instant a Democrat speaks.

Gingrich may keep demanding apologies. The rest of us can keep the receipts.
