@ClipperKyle It’s a swing on a long term piece that you can also convince other teams on down the line. It’s asset management. Think about the Blake trade turning into the Tobias trade down the line. Compounding acquisitions is how you thrive in today’s NBA ecosystem.
@PensareBBall You mention “picks” and I think that’s precisely the problem. The reporting is “a pick”. Reporting that player compensation is agreed upon. Bobby needs to budge on the picks in some way. Whether it’s a minor swap this year and then 28 pick or a 2031+ 1st. Clips need juice.
I have no idea who says no to this trade b it Celtics get back a haul of picks and 2 rotation players for Jaylen, Raptors get off Poetl, and Clippers get to shift into the Garland/JB era
Any trade that has less than a 1st and one of Walter/Graves/FRP Swap is not a positive trade for LAC. CMB is too valuable for this trade and that’s fine. If RJ is in the deal, you can rationalize giving up limited assets. Ingram couldn’t play in the playoffs on a horrid contract!
Quickly realizing the Raptors fan base is absolutely delusional when it’s coming to trade talks. They have like 3 positive non-Barnes assets. RJ is neutral, Ingram/Quickley/Poetl all very negative, Ja’Kobe/CMB/Graves are the only assets that the Clippers should want.
Clips taking on Poeltl as a reclamation project considering the center rotation is Brook (can opt out tomo), Yanic (out beginning of the season), and IJax (backup low impact big) is not a bad thing imo! His contract is horrible!!! Get some picks back for him as well as Kawhi!
Given the Kawhi trade rumors, only trades I’m fielding instead of letting him play out a farewell year are
PJ Wash., Klay, Caleb Martin, 2029 LAL 1st, favorable 2031+ FRP swap
OR
RJ Barrett, Gradey Dick, Ja’Kobe Walter, 2028 1st, favorable 2031+ FRP swap
It’s very interesting that 2 of the most confusing trades in the last few years of American sports both involve Carolina teams. Rantanen made more sense than LaMelo, but two front offices that are very shrewd in their efforts to build a title winner.
@SpeedSurvivor Cason Wallace was from Dallas in a Davis Bertans dump. Nothing conveyed in 2023 for OKC bc the clippers had the better record and the swap wasn’t executed. Topic was from the Chris Paul trade. 2024 OKC got Dillon Jones. 2025 OKC got Thomas Sorber and a 2027 Spurs FRP (via SAC).
@FredSmithkq6@mathomp_501 Yea I’m not arguing against the if he’s good enough to build around part. Bringing up incorrect/irrelevant points make the reasoning look like cope and doubt of his fit long term when that’s not determined and is up in the air.
Some contender is about to get their completing piece for 2-3 years down the line. If OKC, Boston, Detroit, Denver, or Charlotte get in there it might get interesting!!
As of this morning, there is an expectation that Yaxel Lendeborg will fall out of the lottery if the Warriors do not take him with the 11th pick.
If he's available in the 15-18 region of the draft, multiple teams will have interest in jumping up for the Michigan forward.
Keaton Wagler on meeting with the #Nets but cancelling a workout for Brooklyn. "After Chicago & then I was going to the #Clippers, that's 4 & 5. I think just hearing from them and kind of knowing where I stood, I just knew I didn't really need to go and work out." #NBA
