For me, I feel like you can get a sense that he WANTS to do more than he does. The best example of this to me is season 1 episode 7 where he comes to Sally because she called on him. She asks Poseidon if he wants to talk to Percy, and he turns like he wants to but you hear a thunder in the distance, and then he changes his mind. There’s like an impending sense that Zeus specifically wont let Poseidon interact with Percy. Not to mention (in the show), in s1e8, Poseidon comes inbetween Percy and Zeus. More than that, Poseidon fully surrenders the war. Because Percy missed his deadline, there was a war happening between Zeus and Poseidon, and Poseidon surrendered just like that in order to save Percy. We know how much the gods care about glory and power. Surrendering is the last thing any god wants to do, but Poseidon puts aside his pride and does it immediately all for Percy.
