@KenyaPower_Care your unidentified team has disconnected my power from the pole outside the property. Account up to date and meter is smart. What is going on?
@sleepin_volk@Rainmaker1973 Thanks for calling it out. The language being spoken is not Hazdabe. It is Turkana from North West of Kenya near the border with Ethiopia and South Sudan. The style of beadwork on her neck is not worn by Hadzabe😩.
@markthesugarboy All Kalenjin dialects including Kupsabiny are chiefdoms as at the start of colonialism. However, depending on needs and future plans we may need to change into kingdoms or other systems. Nothing should be cast on stone.
@omondypeter@IamDennisOtieno Some take it from you and quietly channel to dependent children/grand children. Red flag is when they are frequently asking for large amounts, sometimes urgently.
@FGaitho237@NPSOfficial_KE I am scrolling down comments and getting surprised that nobody has commented on the clear obstruction and endangering peoples lives.
This is confirmation that we are in a lawless state.
That is not to excuse the fact that all third places (public recreation spaces) are gone!
Most kids who are "small for their age" or scrawny usually aren't late bloomers
They aren't growing because they aren't eating enough healthy calories
Here are 7 ways to get more healthy calories into you kid(s)
1. Butter
Butter is a good source of many vitamins & minerals, cholesterol & healthy fats
All this goodness helps support bone & join t health, hormones & gut health
Its is also high in calories which will help kids bulk up
We put it on almost everything:
Rice
Eggs
Steak
Pasta
Wraps
Potatoes
Sandwiches
And sometimes our kids just have a spoon of butter
2. Dips
(Specifically homemade dips)
Kids love dips!
There are plenty of quick & easy dip recipes like hummus & guacamole online with healthy ingredients like avocado, chickpeas, olive oil & peppers
Serve it up with some veggie sticks and you have a healthy, nutrient dense snack that kids will devour
3. Eggs
Eggs are very nutrient dense & versatile
So many ways to serve them: scrambled, fried, hardboiled etc
We add scrambled eggs to fried rice
We also do a delicious sourdough french toast.
Each slice is covered in 1 egg
Find ways to get eggs into your kid's diet
4. Full fat dairy
Most kids enjoy dairy.
Skip the low fat stuff (why take out nutrients??) and feed them the good stuff with plenty of healthy fat
Milk (at least 3%), high fat yogurt, cream, butter etc
Kid wants cereal? Use high fat milk.
Kids wants yogurt? Feed the high fat yogurt or greek.
Greek yogurt mixed with berries (and often some protein powder) is an almost daily snack for our kiddos
5. Homemade trail mix
Trail mix can be a healthy-ish snack high in calories if done right
Our current mix has:
Dark chocolate chunks
Coconut
Cashews
Walnuts
Pumpkin seeds
Some raisins
Make a big batch so it lasts. Quick & easy snack to give your kids.
6. Smoothies
This is one of the easiest ways to get calories into your kids
Get a few quick, easy & healthy smoothie recipes and stock up on the ingredients
This morning we made:
Coconut water
Frozen berries
Avocado
Protein powder
Honey
Pro tip: Make extra & turn it into frozen popsicles
7. Bone broth rice
Rice on its own is pretty bland with little nutritional value
Instead of cooking it in water, cook it in bone broth to level up this side dish
This adds:
Calories
Minerals
Collagen
Healthy fat
We use it in wraps, tacos, turn it into fried rice or just as a side dish
8. Avocado
Its been mentioned a few times but avocado is high in calories & healthy fat
Add it to smoothies, turn it into guac, put in in wraps or cut it up with veggie sticks
Easy way to add calories to a meal
9. Peanut butter
Not the healthiest option on the list
But its high in fat & calories and most kids will eat it
Toast
On apple slices
PB&J sandwiches
Ants on a log (my childhood fav)
Bonus: Homemade ice cream
Our fam loves ice cream
But until recently only indulged once in awhile
Then we got a Ninja Ice Creami. This was a game changer
Our most recent batch:
Raw cream
Whole fat milk
Chocolate protein powder
Honey
Cacoa nibs
It was delicious, healthy and we all crushed our fair share
We now have ice cream 2-3x/week
Plenty of healthy calories in each pint💪
If your child is "small for their age" or labelled a "late bloomer" (common terms doctors use)
There's a good chance they just arent getting enough calories. Specifically healthy calories.
Dont keep feeding them an unhealthy diet & waiting for them to hit their growth spurt
Offer them up a variety of healthy foods to fuel their growth & development
One day your kids will thank you 💪
The meandering stretch of the road between Iten (Elgeyo Marakwet County) and Kabarnet (Baringo County) is beatified with endless beauty and splendor.
The view of the valley below (home to Rimoi National reserve) is so beautiful you can’t help but marvel!!
