BREAKING: Gold is up 16% in 7 trading sessions.

From $4,100 on March 23rd to $4,777 today.

And the ETF data is backing this move. $1.51 billion flowed into gold ETFs just last week alone. That is institutional money moving with conviction.

But here is what this move is actually saying.

Traders are not buying gold because the world is safe. They are buying gold because they believe a deal is coming but they do not fully trust it yet.

Iran's Foreign Minister signalled readiness to negotiate. Trump speaks to the nation tonight on the war. OPEC meets in four days.

Peace signal means risk assets rally. Uncertainty means gold stays bid. Both are happening at the same time right now. Smart money hedging both outcomes simultaneously.

When the war started, gold sold off hard. The reason was simple. The market assumed the outcome was clear and there was nothing to price in.

Now the situation has flipped. A deal might happen, It might not. Nobody knows. And uncertainty is exactly what gold feeds on.

One more thing worth noting.

This move from $4,100 happened in a straight line with no pullback. When price moves this fast without any consolidation, it is rarely just one-sided buying.

Traders who were positioned short on gold during the war are now closing those positions as the thesis breaks down. That forced position closing is accelerating the move higher.
