The first thing I tell new paramedics out training with me is the importance of a name!

Rule #1 always introduce yourselves and ask the patients and family's name.

If theres one thing that needs to be slick, it's running a cardiac arrest. They happen in homes, streets, parks & pubs, any time of day. We regularly run training scenario sessions like these (including equipment failures, mess & human factors) to keep us on our toes! SA

Our patient verbally assaulted us, threatened to punch and 'kill' us, trapped us in our own ambulance then spat on my crewmate twice.

They've been arrested and we've used our Spit Kit to provide physical evidence as well as statements

Last night over pizza the Brent group had a CPD night where we learnt all about subtle pattern recognition of heart attacks in ECGs.

We also heard from Michelle who works in our local Heart Attack Centre at @RoyalFreeNHS

It's all about staff welfare this afternoon at our CEO roadshow. A chance to mingle with the executive team and ask any questions we have. Plus a chance to catch up with colleagues!

Start of shift today we ran through some cardiac arrest simulations in the station with a couple new paramedics. It's always important to maintain practice and skills so we can provide the best care for our patients!

Found ourselves a little out of area today! We have been covering for South London all afternoon. An amazing sunset but time to journey the 45miles home now!
