This morning, Samaritan’s Purse deployed an Emergency Field Hospital to Jamaica—bringing critical medical care and hope to families devastated by Hurricane Melissa, the strongest storm ever to strike the island.

Our 767 cargo plane carried the 30-plus-bed facility, which includes a surgical operating room, intensive care unit (ICU), emergency room (ER), obstetric (OB) ward for maternal and neonatal care, laboratory, pharmacy, and blood bank.

Our doctors and nurses (who are part of the 70+ member team currently in Jamaica) are already unloading the supplies from this flight to begin building out the tent facility so we can begin serving patients as soon as possible. This hospital will replace one that was destroyed in the storm—meeting urgent needs in a community desperate for care.

Please continue to pray for the people of Jamaica and for our teams as they bring help and healing in Jesus’ Name.
