There have been many articles about the lack of funding for research by this administration. Here's my take. After seeing how much autism research at NIH was cut, I checked cuts by center from 2025-26. It's harsh. Funding is down 75%. Some centers are down 90%.
@SecKennedy@nytimes You aren't funding new autism research, Mr. Secretary. Grants are down 60% in number. Funding is down 80%. Please, tell me how I am supposed to be impressed that you show up to work from time to time, when the things I and my kid need done aren't happening?
Autism grants and funding by fiscal year. 2026 shows a huge drop off. I've pro-rated 2026 to account for the fact that the fiscal year hasn't ended yet.
Congress authorizes ~$800m a year for autism research through the Autism CARES Act. Mr. Kennedy isn't spending it.
New autism research grants are down 60% from 2025. Funding for new grants is down 80%.

@Acyn Kennedy and others said the same thing about removing mercury from vaccines.
Autism rates did not got down.
And Kennedy never admitted he was wrong.
@AutismScienceFd The title of your blog post is inaccurate. The difference is not statistically significant. Stating that the value has been updated suggests that there is a difference.
