@anton_chuvakin After these are covered - we can start talking about tool or tools and the choice of these could be made with consideration of the organization and its capabilities.
Hating SOAR, DIY, No-Code, RPA or anything else without clear picture of the above, is emotional :-)
@anton_chuvakin IMHO, people who want to automate their security ops should, at first, stop thinking about the tool and think about how they approach this organizationally:
1. Who defines which scenarios to automate and in what order?
2. What throughput do we have? (Continued…)
@anton_chuvakin 4. How will we observe / monitor that our mission-critical automations are indeed running with the right performance and are doing what we expect them to do?
5. How will we defend the sensitive entitlements in 3rd party systems (that we need for automation but not for everyone)?
@anton_chuvakin 2.1 How many people do we have capable of defining scenarios for automation?
2.2 How many people do we have capable of doing the integrations with the relevant systems?
2.3 How many people can automate via script / no-code / RPA / Gen AI Prompts….
3. Who will review / approve?

@mipsytipsy@HoardingInfo@mipsytipsy , take it as a compliment 😜 A small price to pay for success, of having people take interest in your opinions. If you start calculating motives when expressing opinions- those will inevitably become less interesting.
@mipsytipsy I would look for a guidance in two distinct situations: a) Planning of a brand new system for high observability b) Improving an observability of an existing/legacy system thst I inow is there to stay. The world is imperfect and, while striving for ideals
