.@brendenmoore13: "There’s a lot of blame to (go) around. The legislature and governor are not blameless. But if you talk to people in Springfield ... there’s a name that keeps coming up as a common denominator for why the Bears have had so many issues. And that's Kevin Warren."
@jamfan40 We had an insane amount of draft capital between 22-24 and turned it into a team that pretty much needed to be rebuilt entirely on both lines.
We don’t have the free resources to swing big. We are climbing out of a hole.
Ryan Poles cannot make these moves because we drafted poorly from 22-24 and don’t have the surplus resources to make this move.
The Rams can afford to make this move because they drafted Koby Turner and Byron Young in round 3 while we were picking Velus, Pickens and Kiran.
@BShulkes The one dude Ryan Poles drafted and got to extend literally cannot stay on the field… you cannot make this up.
The secondary making up for the DL being terrible strategy is also off to a blazing start.
Ben Johnson said improving the #Bears pass rush this season starts with coaching better.
That was a direct challenge to defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett.
The assistant spent weeks going over last season.
He feels he has found what the problem was. (1/2)
I would take it step further. You are paying for the sins of not just last offseason but the inability to find impact players on the front for the last 5 off seasons
"They're paying for the sins of previous offseasons by having to live with this group again."
@robertmays discusses the Chicago Bears' approach this offseason.
Annual reminder that Week #1 of the #NFL season should be 16 AFC vs NFC games.
It's too flukey of a week to have divisional games, or even conference games.
Those tiebreakers matter too much.
I'd rather be wrong! If this defense actually kicks ass I'll be happy to be wrong. I don't want to be right more than I want the Bears to win, I'm just pretty sure if they don't win as much as they should this year the probable cause is already easily identifiable
@juss1700 I sorta get that but boy it sucks to throw away what really could be a superbowl caliber offense bc Poles has spent 5 years trying and failing to "find value" on DL
@juss1700 It's just very hard, even with an elite offense, to win a championship without a top 13ish defense at least. Even average probably doesn't cut it. Playoffs, sure. I think they're a playoff contender regardless, but you don't see many SB winners without at least one blue chip DL
Me: i think this DL sucks ass
The Bears: we think it's fine we just need to do a better job coaching it
Me: sigh okay well I guess I'll blame the coach if this defense sucks again?
Bears Twitter: now hold on a goddamn minute there bucko
