#SIRT7 is a histone deacetylase with highly specific activity on #chromatin substrates.
We just published mechanism-based #cryoEM structures of #SIRT7 on nucleosomes to understand its activity 👇

This would not have been possible without the excellent (and very efficient!) contributions of @BabatundeEkund1 and Polina Foteva (who just defended her MSc thesis 🥳), of @DongchunNi, Esther Calviño and @LabStahlberg, or without the truly supportive guidance of @Beatfierz.

Inhibitors of histone deacetylases (#HDACs) have longer and longer on-target residence times, which may help future clinical applications.
How is this achieved? Check out our new #OpenAccess Perspective @JACS_Au, with @DrYasirRaouf, to know more! 👇🏻

The mammalian Zn-dependent #HDACs are very diverse. They target various acyl-lysine modifications and acetylation of polyamines and other molecules.
This study led by Michael Lammers and Leonie Graf @uni_greifswald trace these features in bacteria🦠!

I am really excited to share our latest #sirtuin research on @biorxivpreprint!
We used mechanism-based crosslinking to solve the structure of SIRT7 and its interaction with biological substrates on the nucleosome.
More details to follow 🙂
