7th President of @LCCStars #EndCCStigma My favorite idea: the American comprehensive community college. 3-time @michiganstateu grad (BA, MA, PhD). he/him.
@LarryHook16 Dramatically reduced higher ed content; odd UX with more ads and posts I have no interest in; feels like the place is deteriorating and dying before my very eyes. The really silly re-brand didn't help. It's like having a conversation with someone who is being strangled to death.
@JenAries4 I have an account. Waiting for ALT text before I really jump in. Also, it's only available on a phone right now. It's a credible alternative, though. Thanks! My username is the same there.
Thoughtful and true reflections from my amazing colleague and @AspenHigherEd Cohort 2 friend Dr. Felicia Ganther. @drkastout is right: Best job ever. Loneliest job ever. Thank you for sharing Dr. G!!!
This piece, with candid and authentic reflections by a new president, is worth a read. “The one thing that hit me harder than a stack of bricks was the level of loneliness one experiences as the CEO.” @comm_college https://t.co/KAL0gnz2xT
Hard to believe, but today is the first day of my 4th year as President of @LCCStars. My family and I are so happy to be back in the great state of @PureMichigan, and I'm the luckiest community college guy in the country to work at this amazing college. [photos: Kevin Fowler]
In 1953, 41% of Ohio voters cast a ballot to keep the word “white” in the state constitutional requirement for service in the National Guard. First, that’s DISGUSTING. Second, I hope all my Ohio friends vote NO on Issue 1. https://t.co/HUEINTZcyY
I said what I said:
"Attempts to redefine or delegitimize efforts in DEI are deeply out of alignment with the clearly stated priorities of our private sector employers."
The political attack on diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education is WRONG.
Opinion | Defending Community Colleges Against Attacks on DEI
Community college leaders can’t sit on the sidelines, for three important reasons, Steve Robinson writes. #HigherEd https://t.co/evpCHS03WG
We had an inspiring meeting with our partners at @GVSU today. At the end, I was able to share my family’s pride about one of their founding trustees, Kenneth W. Robinson, a @UAW leader who left his mark on West Michigan in a big way. He’d be so proud of GVSU, @PhillyGVPres!!!
@donofriojeff@LCCStars To paraphrase @GovWhitmer, attacks on DEI in higher education are bad for business. While there's lots to focus on in the @BusLeadersforMI report, let's not lose sight of the strong business case for DEI in higher ed. /END https://t.co/G1ixDTJx4g.
I want to amplify a point made by @donofriojeff in the @BusLeadersforMI report that is getting lots of ink today. This point isn't getting much play:
EQUITY MATTERS!
The business leaders in our state are calling for us to address equity. /1
.@donofriojeff made this point on the radio this morning while talking to @LCCStars Trustee Andrew Abood. Our state's largest employers want a qualified, diverse workforce. https://t.co/OhZKSWa1ea /4
