Today students completed our final STEAM challenge for the year, “float into summer!” Teams were challenged to design a float that could hold various objects using craft or recycled materials. This was a fun way to end a great year of STEAM at LCE! @theTSIN@sumnerstem
February’s STEAM theme was “Making Waves Through FriendSHIP” and LCE students were hard at work today building boats that would float and hold various items. The only material they were given was aluminum foil, and their creations were impressive!! #LCESTEAM@theTSIN@sumnerstem
Steam club members at LCE participated in an engineering challenge to create a “puff mobile” that can travel at least 10 feet with three puffs of air. #LCESTEAM#STEAMCLUB@theTSIN
Our 5th graders blasted off in the planetarium! 🚀 They explored the moon and gravitational force while connecting directly to their space science standards. Hands-on learning makes the universe feel a little closer! 🌎✨ #STEM#SpaceScience@theTSIN
LCE students participated in a fun Super Bowl themed STEAM challenge where they worked together to build a trophy that could hold the game ball using various items. @theTSIN#LCESTEAM
LCE Robotics Competition Team had an amazing first season. 4th and 5th graders built their own robots to compete in a game. We participated in four competitions. We learned a lot and had so much fun! @VEXRobotics
Today LCE completed our “waves of generosity” monthly steam challenge! After collecting donations for Feed Sumner, a local food bank, students raced to build the tallest freestanding tower of canned goods! What a fun way to use the EDP and help others in our community! @theTSIN
LCE students learned about static electricity and worked together to answer the question "Can you use a balloon to make a ghost dance or fly?" Using tissue paper ghosts students worked through the EDP in teams and then had a lot of fun testing their spooky creations! @theTSIN
2nd graders have been busy bees! Students were asked to design and build Bee hotels with recycled materials. We hope that in the future we can create places for bees to use as nesting sites near flowering plants here on our LC campus! @theTSIN@sumnerstem
First Graders completed their Quarter 1 PBL today. They created a mobile library that can transport books to kids around the world! @theTSIN@sumnerstem
Our first STEAM challenge of the year was a BALL! Using the EDP, students worked together to answer the question: "Can your group successfully get the ball into the bowl as a team using just jump ropes?" @sumnerstem@theTSIN#SumnerAchieves
When professional learning involves team PBL planning along with engaging peer demonstrations, you know it is going to be a great day! @sumnerstem@theTSIN
LCE educators are learning about hands-on, differentiated STEAM K-5th activities that encourage problem-solving, collaboration, and exploration! And, they won a few door prizes! @LCEWolves@theTSIN@sumnerstem
Second graders at LCE were asked the question, "Can a string length affect sound?" Our scientists were amazed at their investigation results! @theTSIN@sumnerstem@LCEWolves
LCE students worked so hard on their monuments for our February STEAM challenge! They created monuments to exemplify our school with limited materials. Way to go! @LCEWolves@theTSIN#sumnerachieves
November STEAM challenge, students at LCE built parade floats that are able to roll and hold donation items. Our school completed a donation drive to help our local family resource center. #sumnerachieves@theTSIN@LCEWolves
4th grade students at LCE are enjoying a visitor for TN Ag literacy week! We are adding to our learning of ecosystems, Earth’s layers, and erosion. Thank you Sumner County Farm Bureau for partnering with us and @LCHSWolves FFA students. #sumnerachieves@theTSIN@LCEWolves
Today, LCE students are Wild About Catapults! With limited materials, students were tasked with building a catapult that could launch a spider into a web from different lengths. #LCESTEAM#sumnerachieves@theTSIN@LCEWolves
LCE STEAM Club had fun creations today! We made Lego pinball machines with our 3rd graders and bouncy balls with our 2nd graders! @theTSIN@LCEWolves#sumnerachieves#lcesteam
