@DanNeidle @HMRCgovuk And those that have not declared it on their tax returns will probably be accused of tax evasion. I really do feel for these victims because HMRC will potentially drive them to suicide and the @policeconduct will do nothing about it.

The Post Office scandal is beyond shocking. Innocent people went to prison, had their assets seized and their reputations shredded. The victims are finally receiving compensation - but much will disappear in tax. Unless the Government acts.

@DanNeidle @HMRCgovuk In theory yes but in reality it seems to be the opposite. Also HMRC will probably bankrupt people before any legislation comes about - they take a zero sympathy based approach.

@TorstenBell The easy solution would be for councils to be able to build affordable homes to rent so that tenants have a choice between renting from a private landlord or their local council. Private landlords are not doing tenants a favour by building more homes.
