Seven years, hundreds of revisions, stalwart CP @AriadneLukas two honorable mentions, a short-list, semi-finalist, & now a longlist. No matter how 'long' the wait might be, breathing life into a dream never gets old. Thanks @RetreatWest

@RobinRobinlass Totally true story about a dear feline friend. It just proves that inspiration is all around us, every day, in every way, just waiting for us to notice. Even the seemingly mundane or that which could make you mad can be a sign from the universe to BE WELL & CREATE from JOY! ✍️😃
#poetrycommunity (stanza 1819)
A pee-sized nose and two dark-brown eyes
Won’t disguise
The mess I’ve made
Should surely make the grade
My true intention belies
For this face I’ve made comes with a smile
#Caturday Dear Missy, Thanks for being my friend and lap buddy. I surely miss you but will never forget the day you wiped your bottom on the carpet, leaving a stain in the shape of a smile. (poem posted in full at #poetrycommunity )
#poetrycommunity (stanza 17)
Agh, there it is--beige, low pile
Finally, a place to artistically style
A little scrubbing in a wide arc
My chocolate lips would surely mark
Reasoned payback with guile
#poetrycommunity (stanza 15/16)
One, two, & three score
Up the stairs I can stand it no more!
There’d be no need for caper
Were the toilet not so far from the paper
Can’t say I didn’t warn them I’d ruin the décor
With the artistry of a cat
#poetrycommunity (stanza 13/14)
Through the lungs of a cat
Passing by denim leg
Move, get out of the way, I beg
I’m on the run with dingle berry swatting my bum
And this one’s no mere crumb!
The pile here I come, like a drunkard to the keg
#poetrycommunity (stanza 12)
One final squeeze
Don’t sniff the breeze!
Were it complete no cling-on would persist
Time has come, the one I cannot resist
As I forget my aching bones and up the stairs I wheeze
#poetrycommunity (stanza 11)
Up and over my leaden legs scramble
As the urge to release grows beyond gambol
I crouch and wait
For the brownie to escape the pale gate
Now it’s just a gamble
#poetrycommunity (stanza 10)
The journey down one, two, & three score
I, in this dusky house, no more than pinafore
To the bowels I go in search of the loo
If my plans they knew
The overseers would surely abhor
The guile of a cat
#poetrycommunity (Stanza 9)
So distant the stairs, I fear
Thus with bum hip and gritty bones I near
Were my vessel a ship
Happy I‘d be, sure to have a bargaining chip
My body a yar—easy to hand, reef, and steer
#poetrycommunity (Stanza 7 & 8)
Feel the pressure, feel the urge
Now leaving my cushion to purge
Must admit I’m prone to ramble
And thus with no further preamble
I abandon this bitter dirge
Rat-a-tat-tat and a tee-teeing
Blurb a blurb o’er a flea-fleeing
#poetrycommunity (Stanza 6)
Within the soul of a cat
A cat can dream
Can you see the gleam
In the eye that mirrors the soul
To not just look but catch that mole!
Life beyond here kitty and a bowl of cream
#poetrycommunity (stanza 4 & 5)
You see the mind does wander
When it is forced to ponder
A castle of the mind
To leave the rest behind
And sashay over yonder
Beyond the confine
Of kitty concubine
To determine one’s fate
Oh, were it not too late
Lives—praise how they are nine
#poetrycommunity
That little golf sand trap did I mention
Oh, how it holds the attention
A dither-thither-fairy-foot feline dance
All the way to that place I’d prance
Instead I am forced to teach them a lesson
In the head of a cat
