@absmathew Yeah, Macbeth was never kingly to begin with. If it wasn't for his wife, he wouldn't even have had the courage to kill Duncan. Even during his short time as king, he didn't do kingly duties like caring for his people (e.g. his wife). He killed them instead :) #Muddybuddies

also note that in Act 5.5, Macbeth speaks again with Seyton, this time without the doctor present. He further instigates Macbeth with his wife's death, but when it comes to delivering news of Macbeth's prophecy manifesting, it is a messenger instead of Seyton who brings his fear

Act 5.3 of #Macbeth sees one of Macbeth's last conversations before battle. He speaks with Seyton (interesting wordplay for a name) and a doctor. The devil on Macbeth's shoulder eggs him on for battle and the healer has given up hope for Macbeth and his wife. #Muddybuddies

It's interesting to see the inversion of stereotypical gender traits in #Macbeth. It seems like it's only the women sticking it out through the drama and getting stuff done while the men have to be dragged up by their wives else they flee the country like cowards. #Muddybuddies

@rija372746 You can tell Macbeth's hubris has made him unreasonable too. He's born witness to all the unnatural phenomena since Duncan's passing (he even cites it to the witches), yet he claims invulnerability when their prophecy says he can only be killed by unnatural means. #Muddybuddies

Scene 3, Act 1 Macbeth takes a page out of Lady Macbeth's book when he manipulates and shames the mercenaries into killing Banquo. Yet another nod to how he transforms for the worse after his first murder. #Muddybuddies #Macbeth

He has become a completely different entity bent on using murder as a tool and capable of hiding its intent to its victims behind a smiling face. #Muddybuddies.

The turn-around time of both Macbeths is crazy to see in action. Just after killing Duncan, both Macbeths were mentally shaken and Macbeth was on the verge of a breakdown. The next day, their faux innocence is worthy of Broadway. Could this be a defense mechanism? #Muddybuddies

@RMaanS23 This and the rest of Scene 3 can be assessed psychoanalytically. To kill the guards so they can't attempt to defend their innocence is a stroke of genius--something Macbeth surely couldn't devise fresh after killing Duncan. How long was he actually grieving? #Muddybuddies

The 3 witches in #Shakespeare's #Macbeth bear striking resemblances to the three Fates in Greek myth. Not sure how I would work around it but it would be interesting to explore the evolution of the Fates through to Shakespeare's time in relation to Monster Theory. #Muddybuddies

One of the things I learned in my high school Lit and Film class was the advantages of film in eliciting empathy from audiences. I wonder how #SuzanneKeen's #ATheoryofNarrativeEmpathy might adapt to fit other narrative mediums (i.e. film, art, dance, etc...). #Muddybuddies

#SuzanneKeen brings up an interesting relationship between empathic ability and culture in #ATheoryofNarrativeEmpathy. Our ability to empathize with different people depending on our differing cultural contexts can explain a lot about today's polarized society. #Muddybuddies

I don't know what I expected with @OctaviaEButler's #Bloodchild. Loved the writing, 10/10, 5 stars. Nearly barfed several times toward the climax though. I'm torn between my disgust with the physical descriptions and my love of the emotional turbulence. #Muddybuddies

I spent my Saturday empathizing with human and nonhuman characters for my paper on #MarthaWells' #AllsystemsRed to the point I've conditioned myself to it. I sincerely didn't want to empathize with the Tlic in @OctaviaEButler's #Bloodchild. I hate that I did. #Muddybuddies

@brucestories #Kin is a great take on human empathy. Both the alien and the child empathize with each other while the government official could with neither. Empathy built a relationship that transcended species. We could learn something from that in today's world. #Muddybuddies

@brucestories' #Kin was unexpectedly wholesome for a story of a child trying to hire a contract killer. It went in a direction I wasn't expecting, and I honestly liked it more for that. It shows that even a hardened mercenary is a 'human' in the sense of emotion. #Muddybuddies

It's interesting to see the 'past' and 'future' in the same work. I find some of the 'future' to be quite scary but I am grateful to have stepped out of the 'past.' Would the 'past' view us as scary and the 'future' be grateful to have moved on? #Muddybuddies #TedChiang

@AmmarJenna Probably should specify that they don't forget all characters. Rather some of the lesser-used ones are forgotten over lengths of time from repeated disuse. They can still recognize the characters but will have difficulty 'spelling' from memory.

@AmmarJenna To this point, people in some cultures are already forgetting how to write in their original language due to the evolution of computer technology. Many Chinese youths no longer know how to write Chinese characters, instead relying on the pinyin spelling. #Muddybuddies #TedChiang
