Prostate Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK. I raised in @UKHouseofLords this week the need for more PSA testing for men at high risk and rapid adoption of more reliable forms of screening.
With temperatures set to soar, it’s time to heatproof our healthcare services.
We are calling for cool wards in every hospital and care homes as urgent action to protect the most vulnerable from rising temperatures.
With extreme weather becoming increasingly common, we need urgent action to protect lives and our NHS.
The Government must open community cooling hubs such as gyms, leisure centres, and libraries to protect vulnerable people from heatwaves this summer and provide relief from extreme heat.
We must do more to boost survival rates across all types of cancer.
Liberal Democrats have a plan to make the UK a world leader in cancer treatment. ⬇️
970 people died last year from extreme heat in care homes and hospitals.
The Government must keep buildings cool, heat proof our NHS and protect the elderly and vulnerable, with facilities fit for the 21st century.

I had a wonderful time at Ashton House Nursing Home's BBQ in Haywards Heath on Friday.
It was great to meet the owners, Gaj and Kathy, and manager Bincy, as well as their dedicated team of carers and nurses.
Thank you for the invitation; I hope to see you all again soon.
"Of course funding the NHS is a good thing, but at the moment it's like a leaking bucket."
"We're pouring money in the top and it's coming out the bottom because we're not sorting social care out."

This damaging backdown in the face of lobbying by the alcohol industry will not get much coverage given other backdowns. But is is very disappointing that this Government has run away from the need for Minimum Unit Pricing for alcohol (preferably progressive according to strength) and backed down on health information.
Happy 77th Birthday to our NHS 🎉
Thank you to all the NHS staff working hard to care for us and keep us healthy.
The Liberal Democrats will always fight to protect our NHS and social care, and deliver on William Beveridge's great liberal idea.
BREAKING: MIT just completed the first brain scan study of ChatGPT users & the results are terrifying.
Turns out, AI isn't making us more productive. It's making us cognitively bankrupt.
Here's what 4 months of data revealed:

The very long awaited Final Cross-government Delivery Plan for ME/CFS won’t fix everything, but could be a start. Y’day I sought confirmation of its publication by the end of June, bringing some government commitment to #pwME. 🙏🏽 @LucyMPowell for a sympathetic response.
"One of the really big missed opportunities was a lack of investment in adult social care."
Lib Dem MP Al Pinkerton says he wanted to see more funding for social care in the NHS.

This smoke and mirrors spending review was a huge missed opportunity to break with years of Conservative neglect and finally start delivering change.
The investment in health announced today will simply go to waste if we don’t address the elephant in the NHS waiting room - the crisis in social care.
The social care review must be completed this year - not in three years - and local authorities must be given the resources to care for people in the community, not in hospitals.
This #CarersWeek, I’m proud to stand with @CarersUK and others in one clear call: greater equality and recognition for family carers. Let’s stand together and show we care. @CarersWeek
