BEYOND A CERTAIN LEVEL OF WEALTH, MONEY IS NO LONGER ABOUT CONSUMPTION—IT'S ABOUT CAPITAL ALLOCATION.
by Brivael @brivael
(Translated from the French)
Elon Musk had said something that really stuck with me about resource allocation. In essence: beyond a certain level of wealth, money is no longer about consumption—it's about capital allocation.
That sentence changes everything.
Economics, at its core, is just an allocation problem. You have finite resources and infinite uses. Who decides where what goes?
Imagine a school playground. 100 kids, packs of Pokémon cards handed out at random. You let it play out. Very quickly, an order emerges. The good players accumulate rare cards, the collectors sort, the negotiators strike deals. No one planned it. And yet every card ends up in the hands of the one who gets the most value from it. The system maximizes the total happiness of the playground. That's the invisible hand.
Now bring in the teacher. She finds it unfair. Leo has 50 cards, Tom has 3. She confiscates, redistributes, enforces equality. Three immediate effects. The good players stop playing—what's the point. The bad ones have no reason to improve; they'll get their share anyway. Trades collapse. The playground is equal, and dead. She maximized equality, she destroyed happiness.
The teacher's problem is that she can't have the information the playground had collectively. That's Mises' economic calculation problem, formulated in 1920. The USSR tried to solve it for 70 years with the Gosplan. Result: shortages, lines, collapse. Not because the Soviets were stupid, because the problem is mathematically unsolvable in centralized mode.
When Musk has 200 billion, he doesn't consume it—he allocates it. SpaceX, Starlink, Neuralink, xAI. Every dollar is a bet on the future. And he has a track record. PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX. He's demonstrated he knows how to spot massive problems and allocate resources to them with spectacular returns.
The state has a track record too. Hospitals collapsing, education declining, debt exploding, public services degrading despite constantly rising budgets. The market identifies good allocators; politics identifies good communicators.
Profit isn't an end goal—it's a signal. It says: you've allocated scarce resources to a use that people value enough to pay for. The bigger the profit, the greater the value created. When Starlink turns profitable, it means millions of people in rural areas finally have internet. When a ministry runs a deficit, it means it's consuming more than it produces. One creates, the other destroys, and we call that redistribution.
In our societies, there are two categories of actors. Entrepreneurs and bureaucrats. The entrepreneur takes personal risk to spot a problem, mobilize resources, create a solution. If he's wrong, he loses. If he's right, his customers win, his employees win, his suppliers win, the state collects taxes. He's the basic cell of human progress.
The bureaucrat takes no personal risk. His salary is guaranteed. At best, he maintains an existing rent. At worst, he destroys it through overregulation, forced bad allocation, perverse incentives that discourage those who produce. But in no case does he create.
Look at the last 50 years. iPhone, civilian internet, SpaceX, Tesla, Google, Amazon, Stripe, mRNA, ChatGPT. All private inventions, driven by entrepreneurs, funded by venture capital. Not a single ministry has invented anything that's changed your daily life.
France has become the world's laboratory for bureaucratic drift. 57% of GDP in public spending, an absolute record. A sprawling administration, a tax system that penalizes wealth creation. Result: falling behind the United States, Germany, Switzerland. Brain drain. Deindustrialization. Exploding debt.
And the worst part is that bad allocation self-reinforces. The more the state takes, the less entrepreneurs create. The less they create, the less tax base there is. The more the state borrows and taxes. Perfect negative feedback loop. The teacher thinks she's helping, and every year the playground produces less.
In our societies, it's always the entrepreneurs who advance civilization. Bureaucrats, at best, maintain a rent; at worst, they destroy it. No society has ever progressed by taxing its creators to subsidize its managers.
The question is never who has how much. It's who allocates the next unit of resource best to maximize humanity's future. The answer hasn't changed in 200 years. It's not the civil servants.
I built https://t.co/R1jAMUfNTv — a free public database for American citizens who deserve safer communities.
You can track which judges released defendants who then got rearrested, skipped court, or violated their release conditions. All public records. All free.
I started with Orange County FL and will be expanding to all 67 Florida counties and eventually every state in the country. This first batch of info is from 2024 and since public reports are released in March/April for the previous year, data is behind. But I wanted to see if this is plausible. After adding 2024,I'll add 2025 and then figure out how to get real-time-data uploaded.
It's in beta — would love to know what you think 👇

(The Mind of Trump)
STRATEGY: "ASK FOR THE STARS TO END UP WITH THE MOON."
"[It's] wishful thinking by a bunch of Democrat Wilsonians. I mean, they don't understand a fundamental fact about Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is a New York property developer. New York property developers have a way of working that is different than the mannered European diplomats who have accomplished nothing over the last two generations. That's that you ask for the stars and you end up with the moon.
Let's remember that everyone since time began has been criticizing Europe, for instance, about its defense spending.
The elegant Obama, the most overrated politician of our era, rightly in in term paper fashion, got this right and then accomplished nothing, being polite to Europeans and lying to them at cocktail parties.
Rather, Donald Trump says, "If you don't do exactly what I want, I'm leaving NATO tomorrow.
Hysteria ensues in the Guardian and elsewhere. The Europeans get their act together and then he says, "Well, actually, I won't leave, but you have to spend 5% of GDP in the near term." And you know, five is the fake number, but really 3.5%.
And so Europeans say, "Aha, he backed down. He didn't leave NATO. It's a taco."
The guy just got a 3.5% commitment from Europeans while Obama accomplished sweet nothing. And this is what he does over and over and over and over again. Is that backing down or is that negotiating? That's what New York property developers do. You ask for the stars and you get the moon.
Who's the winner there? While the Europeans cosplay about mattering, we care as realists about substance. And on the substance, he's done another ask for the stars get the moon thing. And this is part of what he does. But the amazing thing is no one seems to notice." - John Hulsman
Comment:
Trump makes sense to me because as a negotiator I use a very similar strategy: what I am asking for is not what I hope to get. I am not greedy. I get less than what I ask for but I get what I actually wanted. It works flawlessly because you're giving your 'opponent' a win no only for him or herself, but for his or her supporters, partners, and allies. I buy companies. It's a very gentlemanly business. Trump is working with contractors, unions, financiers bureaucrats and lawyers, each trying to pump their status with those who empower them. If you work in those circles it's not gentlemanly. It's a brawl.- CurtD
Katrina,
(a) Why are cities, even if walkable, 'good'? There is no evidence of it. Just the opposite.
(b) American values express responsibility, agency, and civic engagement. They are not possible in cities.
(c) The consequences of this responsibility are profound - so Americans make the trade off wisely: they pay for more expensive infrastructure in exchange for more responsibility, agency, and frankly, 'kindness and safety".
(d) You may not be aware but human development concentrates in cities when poor, before distributing outward when developed and wealthy.
SIMPLY:
The core downside of urban density is that it converts many private choices into imposed externalities. (Offloads the responsibility that makes civil society possible.)The core downside of suburban and rural density is that it converts many collective efficiencies into private costs. (The necessary 'tax' of responsibility in exchange for it's benefits.
So the tradeoff is not “dense good” or “sparse good.” It is this:
Urban density lowers distance costs and raises interaction rates. (lowers opportunity costs in exchange for responsibility and consequential costs and benefits)
But higher interaction rates also raise congestion, conflict, dependency, surveillance, noise, rent extraction, and fragility. They deprive capacity for responsibility and agency for the commons and the society and transfer power to 'elites and governments'.
Lower density reduces conflict frequency and restores autonomy over space.
The CLARITY Act stablecoin yield fight looks like banks vs. crypto.
It's not.
It's a controlled negotiation over how fast to allow substitution within a system that cannot afford to have its foundations questioned too loudly.

WOMEN AND IMMIGRANTS ENDED OUR EXPERIMENT WITH DEMOCRACY?
"Universal franchise was a slow-motion suicide pact"
You can't give a whole populace incentives presuming they're majority males responsible for feeding families.
Young, unmarried women, or women with one kid... they vote like they're still in college. Emotions over logic, safety nets over self-reliance. Polls show it: single women under thirty-five lean left by like seventy percent—way more than single men, married women, even minorities in some cases.
They want free stuff, forgiveness, "care" instead of consequences. And why? Because they're insulated—still living off mom, dad, or the state. No skin in the game yet.
Add in low-trust immigrants—folks from places where bribes and gangs run everything—and you've got a voting bloc that wants handouts, not order.
They don't care about "high trust" societies; they've never seen one. So they vote for the same chaos that chased them here: lax borders, soft cops, endless welfare.
History's full of it—Athens, Rome, every democracy that expanded too fast. The moment you let in people who don't value responsibility, you get mob rule. And yeah, women—especially the young ones—are the quickest to flip. Not because they're dumb, but because biology and culture make 'em prioritize "protection" over "justice."
So my point? Universal franchise was a slow-motion suicide pact. The irresponsible always outnumber the responsible—it's just math. And once they get the vote, the system's rigged against discipline. That's why we're seeing judges who care more about "feelings" than facts - because the electorate demands it.
After Benny @bennyjohnson went digging on Illan Omar, I went digging a little bit on "the squad".
Rashida Tlaib is a broke ass mf'r btw.
However, Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) has some interesting things going on.
Her husband is pulling in $1M/yr from "government funded" sources.
So I dug through her congressional financial disclosures and used AI to break some things down.
Let's go.
THE NUMBERS:
* 2018 net worth: -$12,500 (per OpenSecrets)
* 2024 net worth: ~$8,000,000
That's an $8 MILLION increase in 6 years on a $174K congressional salary.
How'd that happen?
THE TIMELINE:
* Jan 3, 2019: Pressley sworn into Congress
* Jan 8, 2019: Her husband Conan Harris resigns from his $92,500/year Boston City Hall job
* Jan 15, 2019: He registers "Conan Harris & Associates" - a DEI consulting firm
* Wayback Machine confirms https://t.co/OBMPOFX2x7 went live in 2019.
What a wild couple of weeks, eh?
THE CONSULTING GRIFT:
Per her financial disclosures, his firm's income:
* 2021: ~$300,000
* 2024: $100,001 - $1,000,000
That's a MILLION dollars a year from a consulting firm launched the week his wife entered Congress.
THE CLIENTS:
His client list reads like a government funding directory:
* City of Bridgeport, CT (municipal govt)
* City of Framingham (municipal govt)
* MassHousing (state housing finance agency)
* Meet Boston (tourism bureau, receives public funding)
* The Boston Foundation
* Justice Resource Institute (social services nonprofit)
* Obama Foundation
Pattern: DEI consulting for entities that either ARE government or depend heavily on government grants.
THE CONFLICT:
Pressley sits on:
* House Financial Services Committee (MassHousing = housing finance)
* House Oversight & Government Reform (government contracting)
Her husband's firm gets paid by government entities and nonprofits dependent on government funding - in policy areas her committees oversee.
THE ETHICS WARNING:
* The Boston Globe reported in Feb 2019 that before leaving City Hall, Harris used his government email to pitch staying on as a $50K/year consultant.
* State ethics laws bar using official resources for personal gain.
* An ethics expert warned they'd need to "be mindful to avoid any potential ethical and political pitfalls."
REAL ESTATE:
Her 2024 disclosure shows spouse-owned assets:
* Martha's Vineyard rental: $1,000,001 - $5,000,000
* Boston rental #1: $500,001 - $1,000,000
* Boston rental #2: $500,001 - $1,000,000
* Boston rental #3: $250,001 - $500,000
* Fort Lauderdale rental (sold 2024): $250,001 - $500,000
Total real estate: $8M
Remember, in 2019 they had ONE rental property and were underwater on it.
THE BACKGROUND:
* Before his city job and consulting gig, Conan Harris spent 10 years in federal prison for drug trafficking.
* He went from dealing drugs → city job (while his wife was on City Council) → million-dollar consulting firm the week she entered Congress.
BOTTOM LINE:
* Net worth in 2018: negative
* Net worth in 2024: $8 million
The day his wife became a Congresswoman, Conan Harris quit his city job and launched a consulting firm that now pulls up to seven figures annually from government-funded clients.
She sits on committees overseeing housing and government contracting. He consults for housing agencies and government-funded nonprofits.
The swamp doing swamp things.

The BBC just dropped footage of Alex Pretti with a gun in his waistband, spitting on federal officers, attacking them, and kicking out their tail light.
Peaceful protector though, right?
Doesn't matter now, the narrative has already done its job.
@Avidseries
(Serious question from a serious follower)
Not sure why you're on this anti-Trump rant as I see it as beneath you, but I mean, the data speaks for itself. All are positively extraordinary, and in just one year:
- Crime, especially violent crime down to 1900 levels
- Trade imbalance radically altered.
- Inflation radically reduced.
- Debt reduced (tariffs) (other countries tax us equally or more using VAT. this equalizes our trade)
- Forcing europe to re-arm and pay its way.
- Establishing a sphere of influence and prohibiting russia and china from it.
- Controlling 45% of world oil reserves. (strategically profound)
- Consumer protection via credit cards, and blocking funds from buying up housing and driving up prices.
- Repatriating strategic industries.
- Ensuring we can overcome our debt by growing out of our debt using AI and Robotics and repatriation.
- Retooling our military for the present innovations and restoring our inventories of ammunition-to-missiles across the spectrum, including restoring our supply of nuclear weapons.
All of these issues are within the purview of the Presidency.
He has only three more that are harder to move that require legislatures and public opinion - or, public recognition that these things have failed:
- Housing development given the continued movement into urban areas, while still protecting established neighborhoods.
- Food prices. (this is particularly hard because we industrialized food production during the world wars, which led to 'bad food', and we have to reverse it (see the french model).
- Education: Education no longer produces the returns because we have downgraded grades k-12 so much, and because we have downgraded college and university so much that the supply of people with 'questionable' degrees cannot find anticipated occupations and never will be able to. This is true in Masters and PhD programs as much as it is in undergrad. Particularly women-domeinant fields that are counter productive to both income, home ownership, family formation, and reproduction.
So you care about our 'allies' (economic and strategic parasites), when we demand they pay their share, and you care about immigrants who violated our laws, institutionalize corruption, generate crime, undermine our pricing for labor, expand the capacity of the left to take control to undermine our civilization through payouts and immigration, generate only 60%-80% of ethnic European productivity and taxes, Ethnic Europeans produce only a surplus of about 500-600 Billion per year while african americans cost us 500 billion per year, and hispanic americans cost us 350 billion per year.
In other words between just African Americans and Hispanics, European Americans are paying out a almost trillion dollars per year, and half of that is going into debt every year. Note that a significant part of the difference between african american and hispanic is the delta between african american and hispanic incarcerations rates.
If you take the 1.5 Trillion in corruption via the democratic party and their NGO and related dependents, and you add the 1.0 Trillion redistributed to african americans and hispanics, then that 2.5 Trillion is nearly HALF of the federal budget of 5.2 Trillion.
Now given the total federal spending is 7.0 Trillion, and total federal revenue is 5.2 Trillion, leaving a deficit of 1.8 Trillion, that means that between the corruption financed by the democratic party, and the redistribution to african americans and hispanics the entire deficit and accumulation into civilization threatening debt is due to 'hispanic, middle eastern, african immigrants and african americans'.
Compare that with a 400-450 Billion net contribution by asian americans. (So called 'ideal minority'). They are more than ideal. They're exemplary.
Compare that with 200-300 Billion surplus by Indian (Hindustani) americans. (Culturally problematic, likely because of insufficient acculturation time but economically not so.)
And that is why the government, academy, and media do not address the issue, and even prevent the collection of data that would make this more evident.
In reality, as a general rule, the only net contributors to taxes are white and asian males over 35. Everyone else is a dependent upon them. But, the dependents are doing everything possible to undermine those same men.
QUESTION
So all that said, why are you ignoring all of the above, instead of 'reveling in the popular experience of it". Are you seeking clicks or are you emotionally activated so that you're engaged in subconscious satisfaction by motivated reasoning? Or do you think it's possible to continue the postwar pax americana for some reason? Or do you think it's possible to make these reforms in more gentlemanly fashion despite the capture of academy, media, and state by those benefitting from the massive preservation of status and outrageous corruption that's over a Trillion dollars per year?
Yes, Trump is reorganizing the world for the end of the postwar pax americana, for the simple reason that we don't have a choice - our debt is accelerating and it's the principle reason for civilizational failure; we did not finish the conversion of empires to nation states at the end of the second world war, so they have returned with a vengeance as Iran, Russia, and China; The marxist sequence of marxism(class, socialism, communism), cultural marxism (frankfurt school et al), postmodernism (relativism, truth marxism), left-feminism (jewish anti-western, anti male feminism), libertarianism (middle class Jewish libertinism), neo-conservatism (upper managerial class russian, jewish, Trotsky-ism), woke (Race Marxism); combined with failure to force europe to pay its way in response to the fall of the soviets; export of jobs in response to the leftist capture of the unions; And voting Bush 1 out of office when we needed him most, followed by the 'nice' but destructive governments of clinton, obama, biden that did nothing but embolden others, prserver corruption, proceed with european parasitism on our people, and permissiveness on the world geostrategic stage.
I mean, maybe my core competency is economics across the spectrum, and maybe my work in epistemology and deception has given me particular insights, but I have a hard time understanding why people don't understand what's going on when the information is there, but it's not information they want to year
That evasion disqualifies them from democratic participation. If you can't make rational decisions on the information sufficiently to be a juror in the direction of the government, then you're the very reason why democracy is failing in the world despite our efforts. You're proving the ancient greek argument that Democracies always fail - and for this reason.
Cheers

Please, rest of the world, recognize that at least of third of us in the USA do understand his strategy and tactics for reorganizing the world in response to the end of the postwar order by Russia and China, and the need for europeans to carry their own strategic, military, and economic weight as a consequence.
SImple people make moral arguments when the problem is practical and empirical and necessary. So, we should expect simple people to make moral arguments, as Amy does above.
We could correctly criticize those people for ignorance, we could criticise them for normal human cognitive bias, we could criticize them for their childlike response to strategic necessities - or we can try to help them understand.
Unfortunately they don't want to understand, they don't want to adapt, they don't want to reorrder their intuitions and habits, and beliefs in response to change.
That's why they're children.
And their opinions must be treated as such by adults.
I was recently in El Salvador.
Random people in the street were delighted to say how much they love Bukele because he put these violent criminals behind bars.
Keeping these men locked up is why their homicide rate is now lower than Canada's.
In fact, 2026 is beating 2025!
