but wait - I thought you said all landlords would leave the sector if their profits come down? 🤔 Why would that only happen if rent controls brought them down, and not increased supply? Could it be... that it is a nonsense argument?? Not for me to judge

My favourite contradiction in landlords' arguments against rent controls is this: 1) we shouldn't have rent controls, because if you reduce landlord profits they will all leave the sector
2) and besides, the problem is supply - if we just build more houses then rents will go down

@HannahAlOthman 7 is high but I regularly get similar letters from children in chronically overcrowded homes- 4 or 5 in 1 bed. Sometimes the kids come to my surgery and tell me their story and it is unbearable. Loads of money for Help to Buy though.
