New estimates from my @urbaninstitute colleagues showing that 4.8 million people will become uninsured if the enhanced premium tax credits are not extended. https://t.co/uAvtzE83VL
E&C committee was asked to cut $880 billion to make way for tax cuts. Latest paper from my
@urbaninstitute.bsky.social
colleagues on what would happen to insurance coverage if the 90 percent FMAP for the Medicaid expansion was eliminated. https://t.co/CLyXidUUzr
Urban Institute: reducing the #Medicaid expansion match rate – as some GOP plans have proposed – would create a $44.3B funding shortfall for states in 2026. If states respond by dropping their expansions, up to 10.8 million people would become uninsured. https://t.co/L8ldERzUe3
⚠️This week may have been my last full update post on current infection numbers and trends.
Why?
The new administration may pause all public reports of federal health data from FDA, CDC, DHS, according to this article.
Congress is considering extending the enhanced premium tax credits. According to my @urbaninstitute.bsky.social colleagues, households' spending on insurance premiums would surge if the EPTCs are not extended. https://t.co/Gc8AEDqADk
As press reports continue to highlight the debate within GOP Congressional leaders as to whether they should block grant Medicaid to pay for their tax cuts, it is worth highlighting that there are 11.7 million seniors/PWD on Medicare + Medicare.
The so-called "Dual-eligibles".
While the Republicans consider whether or not to block grant/cap Medicaid which would gut the program over time, the voters are not in favor of this idea.
Most Medicaid enrollees who are not elderly or disabled are already working. The vast majority of those who aren't are not working due to illness, caregiving responsibilities, or school.
Health insurance "high risk pools" are back in the news. @RWJF's @khemp64 and Wakely's Michael Cohen are out with a super timely and helpful analysis of how such a change would impact insurance markets: https://t.co/jiJU5mAssa
Rampell: I'm sorry I can't get past that. Like locking up all of the enemies, whether they're journalists or otherwise, that matters. I don't think the voters get a say on whether the first amendment still exists.
Very excited to see this new state-by-state series on access to reproductive health post-Dobbs by my colleagues in the Health Policy Center @urbaninstitute
How is reproductive #healthcare changing post-Dobbs?
In a new series of #research findings from Urban, learn more about abortion access and #policies in key states. https://t.co/VtNrROi45W
A little brief I wrote at ASPE many moons ago is suddenly relevant now! Who would be denied coverage if ACA protections for pre-existing conditions were removed? @urbaninstitute https://t.co/8drGeeejl1
