Learning about Forests aims to increase knowledge about the key role forests play in sustaining life on our planet. An Choill Bheag is an initiative of LEAF.

Excited to be working with @ArdscoilNaMara helping to open up their woodland, making it more accessible & potentially increase the diversity by adding a more diverse mix of native trees. Most importantly, we will educate the educators, showing them how to use this valuable space.

With the ESD fund we’ve been able to get training from @LEAFIreland on how to make our woodland accessible to the students & staff. By the end of this academic year, our students will feel what it’s like to be in a forest, learning in nature 😍 It’s another step on the journey.

LEAF has been engaging with student teachers from @MarinoInstitute, thanks to funding from @agriculture_ie, demonstrating how to engage in Citizen Science, recording the species diversity & numbers found in their newly created woodland habitat #AnChoillBheag 🌳

As part of our 'Educate the Educators' project, funded by @agriculture_ie, we have been engaging with student teachers from @DCU using #activeoutdoorlearning to demonstrate how they can teach their future students the importance of healthy and resilient forests🌳

Early Sept. student teachers learned about the importance of trees while planting a hedgerow on the grounds of @MarinoInstitute & were shown how to engage school students in forest related activities @agriculture_ie

This year the tree of the moment is the Hawthorn (An Sceach Geal)!
