@BradBerkowitz@notgaetti Yep they would swing for a home run when the targets are 15ft from them, such a dumb assumption. So many guys would be able to do this, it’s soft toss
@jswan11WBCnats@shegone03 Team full of future HOFers, multiple WS rings, multiple MVP have no game IQ and won’t move to “another level” like they ain’t the best players in the world. Might want to self reflect on your ability to read players
@thebossofyoufoo@SamOlbur The team that has won the division the last 7 years and eliminated us in the NLDS last year is not a factor to being unsuccessful. Checks out
@DalenLamberson@m_hallstein@bigcruzer@OutOfTheVines No one is saying replace Suzuki with Kwan. People want Kwan to replace Happ and resign Suzuki. Kwan would be a similar guy to Happ in terms of production but will be cheaper and get there more steadily
@LilPlewy22@tkleinfe@shegone03@Brewers@MLB What would you have done? Slider obviously wasn’t working and chourio just spit on a slider down to make it 2-2. Bases loaded up 1 so can’t walk him. Are you going back with a slider or going with your best pitch in the zone
@thetuse@shegone03 In the regular season I guess depending where in the schedule. But in the postseason you play to win, don’t care if it’s prime Clemens, if he’s shaky with a high pitch count you’re pulling him before he implodes
@shegone03 It’s fine if you don’t understand it or like it, but to think you have a better understanding on how to find breakout players and predict future success than every mlb team that has success is ridiculous. The brewers who play the game the way you like are the most analytical
@BacontimeBlog@shegone03 It’s not used as a way to overwrite poor outcomes, it’s used to show what a players stats would look like if every batted ball aligned with the most likely outcome. Correlates a lot more with future success than just looking at past results, because it measures swing quality
@lewdog73@CubsZone You’re mad the mvp holds himself to a high standard? Just say you dislike PCA for no reason and move on. Every single other player is talking about how they didn’t do enough yet I don’t see you saying they have an ego. He knows the rest of the team sucked but you don’t bad mouth
@lewdog73@CubsZone How is being self accountable to a bad performance an ego problem, actually the opposite, he’s able to look at himself and acknowledge his shortcomings in the series. You want him badmouthing everyone else instead of himself?
@DonnieSpinks@shegone03 For example if it’s 10 runs = 1 war if a player has been worth 30 runs across offence and defence that would then have built 3war
@DonnieSpinks@shegone03 WAR isn’t a hypothetical. It’s converting everything you do on the field to either scoring runs or preventing, then compares that to the league’s average, then converts that number into wins dividing a players net runs by the established x runs = 1 win 1/2
@DarrellKee75676@shegone03 Expected stats are used to show how a player would have performed if outcomes followed the statistical likelihood. It helps with predicting a players future success by determining if they are getting unlucky or lucky. Nuance exists as hitting profiles can also if it’s luck
@BacontimeBlog@shegone03 Is a better way at measuring future success rather than purely using outcomes. However it comes with nuance as well, players can outperform expected stats such as pulling a ball in the air as that is the best way to do damage without needing the greatest swing 2/2
@BacontimeBlog@shegone03 Not what that means at all. It’s a way to show that if an outcome happened in a way that closer aligns with statistical likelihood. For example a ball being hit 110 at 28degrees more often will be a hit than not, so showing expected stats based on approach rather than result 1/2
@markhreed@dhbytes@JimA6to4to3 You’re obviously just blindly against analytics because use Smoltz to argue against velo is ridiculous considering he was still reaching 95 at 40, easily touching high 90’s in his prime. Also using the best pitchers of an era is a bad argument, gotta compare to AAAA guys
@markhreed@NerfHofflemeyer@JimA6to4to3 Don’t you think there’s a reason approach has changed. It is harder to string hits together because of pitching development so hitters need to maximise their outcomes on balls in play.
Data is more accessible to quantify the likelihood to score in different situations
@Chiefy1179319@markhreed@MathNerdActuary@JimA6to4to3 People like this misconstrue small ball with no analytics. Brewers are constantly platooning no names and getting career years out of them and turning nobodies into elite bullpen arms with optimal pitch shaping and spin efficiency
@HucciIts78205@VoiceOfR_@KakuMiri@DanClarkSports@Cubs@astros I feel like you lack the basic understanding of what competition is. The guy on the other side has the same job as you, win the at bat, game, series etc. Both sides cannot succeed at the same time, 1 will fail to “do their job” in every single situation
