President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.

There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear.

I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected.

I am shocked by the sheer number of people who have contacted me to ascertain the veracity of Verydarkman’s Bobrisky release. “Could Bobrisky really have lived outside the prison while serving her (or is it his?) sentence?” “Could s/he really have paid EFCC to have the money laundering charge struck out?

You know, many of you are strangers in your own country. You mean you didn’t know all these before now? You didn’t know people with EFCC cases sometimes paid their way out of trouble? You didn’t know inmates sometimes stayed in hotels or tastefully furnished apartments while serving out their prison sentences? You don’t know that magistrates sometimes pronounced that accused persons shoudl be “remanded in custody), only for court officials to ‘help’ them perfect their bail conditions within a few hours such that they end up sleeping in their homes same day rather than in prison? You don’t know that while serving a prison sentence, you can drink, smoke weed, have sex, party and have the time of your life? You're not aware you can go to prison and subsequently obliterate your prison records, as though you were never convicted? You don’t know that some of those comments you read on Twitter and Facebook are made from inside prison cells? You don’t know that if you possess one or all of money, power and influence, you can bypass the Nigerian justice system notwithstanding whatever pronouncements were made in court? So, what do you really know about your country, then?

Some of us do the work we do because of our understanding of the bastardisation of our institutions, under the watch of the government, of course. But you know, we are “enemies of the government” or “enemies of progress” who must be discredited on social media and haunted, harassed and harangued by state actors.

There’s enormous work to be done in cleaning up this country; the first step is understanding the scale of the rot.

Today, we mourn the passing of an icon, a legend whose voice and presence have resonated deeply with us all—Onyeka Onwenu.

I’m better at expressing myself through my art. “LionHeart” was born out of a desire to honor and give flowers to the legends that made my childhood beautiful and memorable, whilst they were still with us. I am so grateful she accorded me the opportunity, honor and privilege to share time and space with her. We created iconic moments that will forever be entrenched in my mind and photo memories.

My tears won’t stop falling because writing this tribute means I can’t live in delusion for a few more hours. That this is not a bad dream I will be waking up from.💔

My heart and deepest condolences to her family, loved ones and to her fans all around the world.

Rest in peace, Onyeka Onwenu💐. Your legacy will never be forgotten.🤍🕊️
