Excited & honoured to be scribing for @AydanEG & @UniversityLeeds this afternoon, working with colleagues to see how we can promote LGBTQ+ inclusion + safety when conducting field work ✏️ 🔍

What a surprise... As it is now the people in power can get away with almost anything. All they have to do is to say some nice words and say they will "form alliances and work together to combat climate change". #COP26
We’re really looking forward to taking part in this workshop!
#LGBTSTEM please share and get in touch with @AydanEG from #PrideInTheField with expressions of interest - the workshop will explore tools for promoting LGBTQI+ Inclusive Fieldwork Practices 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🌎

This is a must read by @geogramblings
“I would ask that everyone make efforts towards creating learning environments, be it the classroom, the playground, the field centre or beyond, that are safe for transgender kids.”

We’ve already emitted 89% of the CO2 budget that gives us a 66% chance of staying below 1,5°C. That’s why historic emissions not only count - they nearly make up the entire climate crisis. And yet they’re still being almost completely ignored by media and people in power.
Stay tuned for some exciting news, events and resources which we are working on over the next few months.
If you carry out fieldwork, and want to promote LGBTQI+ inclusion and safety in fieldwork settings, please check out our platform 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ https://t.co/XY84iuO5aS
Just a thought, but what if there was an online pen pal/mentor match up for LGBTQIA+ peeps doing biosci fieldwork?
Working abroad for me could be isolating, occ. unsafe. I had to be closeted, and felt like I was navigating uncharted waters. I wonder if others could use support.
Deadly heatwaves, floods, storms, wildfires, droughts, crop failures...
This is not “the new normal”.
We’re at the very beginning of a climate and ecological emergency, and extreme weather events will only become more and more frequent.

It was great to take part in today’s #PrideInTheField screening and Q+A of @FilipTielens and @MariekeDermul’s incredible doc, Pride is Protest.
Such a powerful film about the continuing fight for #LGBT rights and equality 🌈
