Thank you to @ENRnews in America (New York) for their #ENRTop25NewsMakers Award of Excellence & to @CIOBCaroline CEO of @theCIOB for presenting at CIOB HQ . Proud to be working with the CIOB in developing their future strategy on #equality#diversity & #inclusion in construction
@KemiBadenoch@LGBTCons Won’t vote for conservatives every again following your abusive remarks about transgender people. I think you will be out of a job soon
@jk_rowling The sad truth is I receive more daily hate and harassment from you than any one in all my life. Bar being sexually assaulted by a man in what should have been a safe space , your sad obsession about how I go to toilet is about the lowest anyone can go.

Today is #EqualPayDay, and the construction industry has a number of other factors to contend with, according to this report, that highlights issues that make the construction industry the least inclusive for women. @ICE_engineers

Today we’re celebrating the fantastic work of UK construction mental health charity @MatesInMind 🙌
Their teams are raising awareness and addressing the stigma of poor mental health in construction, while promoting and leading on the development of positive mental wellbeing within the workplace.
Mates in Mind aims to provide clear information to employers about the available support and guidance on mental health and wellbeing, and how they can address this within their organisations.
The charity is run by an excellent team and has a number of useful free-to-access resources and links to support on its website at https://t.co/7e7eDdQx9r
Of particular note is its “BeAMate” UK SMS text support service. To use the service, simply text “BeAMate” to 85258 in the UK and trained volunteers will help with issues including anxiety, stress, loneliness or depression. They are available 24/7.
Mates in Mind is one of five leading construction mental health charities worldwide that’s partnering with and supported by the #GetConstructionTalking campaign. We’re highlighting the amazing work of each charity in turn as we countdown to World Mental Health Day and our Construction Mental Health Summit in London on October 10.
The other charities are The Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention (US), MATES in Construction (ANZ), Lighthouse (UK and Ireland) and Construction Sport (UK).
Tackling construction’s mental health crisis starts with each of us — whether you’ve personally struggled with your own mental health or not.
We need YOU to take the first step and start looking out for your work mates and colleagues across the industry everyday. You know them better than anyone and are best-placed to spot the signs and offer initial support.
It’s simple 👇
1️⃣ Ask them how they’re doing if you sense they’re not right. Sometimes it’s useful to ask twice.
2️⃣ Be there and listen. You don’t have to diagnose an issue or try to fix things.
3️⃣ Point them to support from one of the construction industry’s fantastic mental health charities, if you feel they need it.
Remember, sometimes there aren’t any signs that people are struggling. That’s why generally raising awareness of support resources across your teams and creating a culture where people feel able to talk about mental health and reach out to each other is so important.
Learn how to take the first steps in our free toolkit on our website. There you can also find support and make any size of investment to help construction’s charities 👉 https://t.co/kfyr0kDglW
