Off to the see @ArcticMonkeys tonight, the sound of my teenage music listening yet the first time I'll have ever seen them live, so so excited.
Also being supported by the band who first made me go "woah fuck this is epic" at a gig, @TheHives
Tick tick boom.
@K_Willzzz Like deflections off of someone's shin as they stick a leg out to block a cross?
Defenders don't stand still (well Trent did sometimes this season) they will always try to block it, it isn't the same as passing it or being in control.
That is the current interpretation
@K_Willzzz@SamMcGuire90 No, he didn't have time to do it consciously, he reacted to a ball pinged at him from a few metres. There was no time to consciously or intentionally do anything with it.
Second scenario is not offside as the defender intentionally and consciously attempts a pass.
@K_Willzzz@SamMcGuire90 Fine one more go.
There's 2 parts to playing the ball, there's trying to get any body part in the way (a block) and there's having time to deliberate over what you want to do with the ball.
So yes, he deliberately blocks it, but he does not play it to VVD deliberately.
@K_Willzzz@SamMcGuire90 Does he have time to stop and adjust his body for the clearance or is he just getting any contact on it that he can?
Does he deliberately play the ball to Van Dijk or does it just bounce off him.
This is my last effort at trying to explain it 😂
@K_Willzzz@SamMcGuire90 Right I'll try again 😂
Ball intentionally played is like you have time to think about and set yourself for it. Not just stick a leg out.
So in this situation where he just blocks it instinctively, its not a deliberate act in the same way it wouldn't be a deliberate pass back
