#BREAKING: Emergency Management Commissioner Tim Wiebusch confirmed at least 50 structures have been destroyed in the bushfires - a conservative figure expected to rise - with the worst losses around Ravenswood, Harcourt and Longwood.

The damage toll also includes cropping land, livestock and vineyards, with 20 structures lost at Natimuk and 10 at Yarroweyah near Cobram.

More than 200 fires burned across Victoria yesterday, with 10 still at the major fire level and expected to keep burning for days, if not weeks.

Premier Jacinta Allan warned it is not safe for residents to return to fire-affected communities, urging people to stay away and follow advice.

Strong winds and overnight lightning have added fresh risk, particularly in the Otways and Gippsland.

The first images from Ruffy show widespread destruction, with multiple homes and community buildings lost as the Longwood fire ripped through the township.

Among the structures destroyed was the Tablelands Community Centre, a former primary school that served as a vital hub for locals.

Ruffy CFA captain George Noye described the loss as “absolutely devastating”, saying crews “tried every trick in the book” before being forced to fall back.

He later returned to defend his own property and said “many houses” in the town had been lost.
